AN ANNUAL CALENDAR
OF EVENTS FOR GPD
It is clear that, for a variety
of reasons safety, training,
educational, and otherwise,
there are some events and
activities that have either
already been held or will be
held here at GPD or will be held
later in this calendar year, that
are good in and of themselves,
beneficial for the institution
or individuals, and are worth
repeating annually. Therefore, it
is being proposed that we take
immediate steps to commence
the compilation of a Calendar
of Events for the Department
for the next 14 months. Some
of the suggestions that have
already been suggested include
the following:
(i)A monthly birthday social;
(ii)An annual First Aid refresher
course;
(iii)An annual refresher course
in firefighting techniques
and evacuation procedure;
(iv)
A Group Event on public
holidays;
(v)Periodic computer training
in basic application for staff
needing such training;
(vi)Needs-based
modular
training by Public Service
trainers.
In connection with this
initiative, all members of staff
are hereby asked to submit any
suggestion that they may have
to their immediate supervisor
in time for consideration at our
Monday morning briefing this
coming Monday.

UV COATER BACK IN
SERVICE
The staff of the Bindery will
be pleased to know that
the motor of the UV Coater
has been repaired, and
the machine is back in full
service.
ELECTRICIANS AND
AIR CONDITION
TECHNICIANS ARE
CURRENTLY ON SITE
Electricians are on site
completing the installation of
safety switches in strategic
locations of the plant that
would
protect
sensitive
electronic equipment from
power surges. Also, air
condition technicians are
busy installing a new a/c vent
in the Secretary’s Office, as
well as a new duct and vent
in the darkroom.
All said, October has proven
to be a productive month
here at GPD.
Relations 101
LET THE SUNSHINE OUT!
Have you ever started your morning with a hop, skip and a jump only
to have the un-cherry disposition of another suck the life out of you
and the entire room.
Misery loves company and whether intentional or not an unhappy
person can steal the joy of others around them.
Never allow the selfish or moody actions of others to dictate your
mood. Because after all happiness is also contagious.

Recipe of the Week
Express Yourself
Tossed through waves of emotions
Aimlessly landing fusion of doubtful thoughts,
Hoping that soon, somewhere somehow,
That wonderful magic begins.
We often define these times as wholly sacred.
Times that can never be matched no matter what happens.
Thus in this medley that so often parades, brings about
colors, sensations and tremendous escapades.
Oh! how we yearn for those colors to shine,
Warming our hearts and tantalizing our minds.
But love so divine, has its moments as everything else we have.
Capturing each illusion, each imagination thereof.
Johnny Cake
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening or olive oil
2/3 cup whole milk
DIRECTIONS:
Mix all the dry ingredients together, then cut in the shortening.
Work the mixture with your hands until the grains are about
the size of rice.
Add milk until you get a soft dough (I had to use a bit more
than the recipe called for).
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.
Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a
greased 9x9 inch pan. You will have to press it down so it
fills in all the corners. Poke the top of the dough a few times
with a fork.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. You can tell the
cake is done when it starts to turn a little golden around the
edges.
