Friday, May 29 Queen for a Day: Girls are treated like royalty! But what about “Outrageous Sock Day”? Having no school on May 27th will have an impact on our Alphabet Countdown. We will continue the countdown as it appears on the original calendar, skipping “Outrageous Sock Day” on Wednesday, May 27th and continuing with “Picnic Day” on Thursday, May 28th. But have no fear...you will still get to wear your outrageous socks!!! On Thursday, June 11th (now a full school day), we will have a second letter “Y” Day called “You still get to wear your Outrageous Socks”! This will bump letter “Z” Day to Friday, June 12th (now a half day, and the last day of school). We hope this will clear up any confusion and avoid any disappointment! No School Wednesday, May 27th YEA “Day of Action” The Yelm Education Association (YEA) has voted to approve a “Day of Action.” This is a one day walk-out to protest the Legislature’s failure to adhere to the State’s Constitutional mandate to fully fund public education. The YEA has made it clear that this is not an action against the Yelm School District. The Day of Action will take place on Wednesday, May 27th. There will be no school that Wednesday or any school-related activities. We will still serve students 180 days, by extending the calendar one day. Thursday, June 11th will now be a full day instead of a half day of school. The last day of school will be Friday, June 12th, which will be a half day of school. The teachers plan a number of public activities around the area. If you have additional questions about the Day of Action or their events, please contact the YEA president Mike Snodgrass at 360-359-1483.
