Objective: To be able to identify different polyhedrons and their parts including bases, faces, vertices, and edges.
Virtue/Skill: We will use this vocabulary and identification to determine the formulas to use for volume. Plane a two dimensional flat surface that extends in all directions
*orange planes do not intersect

Three dimensional shapes, 3D shapes, or solids.... polyhedron is a 3D solid with flat surfaces that are polygons
* most prisms and pyramids are polyhedrons
Solids that are NOT polyhedrons....
sphere,cones, and cylinders

Face Edge January 25, 2017
a flat surface
where two planes intersect in a line
no edges

Vertex January 25, 2017
where three or more planes intersect at a point
no vertex
Base Prisms have 2 of them . Pyramids have one of them.
*Prisms and pyramids are named by the shapes of the bases.
Types Has two bases sides are rectangles of (unless its a cylinder)
Prisms:
Could call this a cube if you can tell that all sides are the same length
