The Grand River Greenway Parks Celebration 2012 presents TRIATHLON ON THE GRAND Yo u d o n ’t n e e d t o b e f a s t t o w i n ! Kayak 3.2 miles, bike 6.4 miles, run/walk 2.2 miles. Great prizes, good clean fun in a non-competitive environment. Enjoy the river and parks at your own pace and bring a picnic lunch. PLACE: Riverside County Park, on the Grand River DATE: Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 TIME: Start between 10-11 a.m. Finish by 2 p.m. Prizes drawn after event - Registration fee $20 early, $25 day of event (limited to 150). - All events start and end at Riverside County Park in Robinson Township. - Must be 13 or older to enter, and minors must have parents present and written permission. - Must supply own equipment. Life jackets must be worn during the kayak event, and helmets are required during biking event. Limited to first 150 entries preregistration is recommended! MORE INFORMATION: Please pre-register! Limited to the first 150 entries. Entries must check in on site and sign a waiver. Entries will be given an arm band or other numbered identification, to identify them at turnaround areas. Entries must supply their own kayak, bike, and safety equipment. Kayakers must wear life jackets, Bikers must wear helmets. Entries are allowed help getting their boat in and out of the water, as well as help with their bikes. Each entry is responsible for his/her own equipment and its security. Bananas, cookies and Gatorade will be given out at transfer area. Water available at the turnaround areas. Start times between 10am and 11am. Course should be completed by 2PM and prize drawings will happen as soon after the finish as possible. To avoid overcrowding, we will allow entries do the kayak, bike, run/walk in any order they please. Mileage is approximate. - The kayak portion is about 3.2 miles (1.6 miles up river and 1.6 down). Kayak starts near the boat launch and go up the Grand River (east ) to 90th Ave. ( Bur Oak Landing ) and return to launch area. - The bike portion is 6.4 miles (5 miles is dirt or gravel). Bike starts at boat launch, parking lot area and goes (West ) to 104th then South to Bass Creek Rec area entrance ,then East to the gravel boat launch at the East end of the park, and return to Riverside Park. - The run/walk is 2.3 miles (dirt trails). Run/walk start near boat launch and parking lot and goes east to the end of the peninsula and back to the Start/Finish/Registration area (covered picnic table area). Riverside County Park is located on N. Cedar Drive, east of 104th Avenue
