An Egyptian Museum- 7 Week Project
Areas of Learning
During this unit, we will become historians, designers and
creators. It is going to be our job to transform Class 2 into an
‘Ancient Egypt’ museum. We will begin our journey by exploring
the Egyptian exhibition at the Hancock Museum, Newcastle.
As historians, we will explore Ancient Egyptian society finding
out about the role and rights of pharaohs, viziers, nobles, priests,
scribes, soldiers, craftsmen, farmers and slaves. We will look at
the lives of some of the most famous pharaohs, including
Tutankhamun, Rameses II, Cleopatra and Hatshepsut. We will
delve deep into the great pyramids and investigate why and
how they were built and what they tell us about Ancient Egypt.
As readers and writers, we will use our skills to gather
information on Ancient Egypt and develop our abilities to create
our own interesting and informative reports for our class
museum. We will explore persuasive writing and will be trying to
convince you to come and view our museum.
