FOR ATTENDANCE AND PERSONAL/CONTACT INFORMATION…
For attendance and emergency purposes, please notify the office and your child’s
teachers if your child will be away from school for any reason. It is also important to
contact the teachers for homework.

Also, if there are ANY changes in your personal contact information (phone number,
addresses, email, etc.) or your child’s medical information (doctor, dentist, etc.) please
inform the office by emailing Francine Kubos at [email protected] or call the
FSS at 250-423-4471.

STUDENT AND ATHLETIC FEES
Student fees of $15.00 are now due.
All students of FSS must pay these to cover the
costs of lock and lockers $5.00, agendas $6.00, and student council fees $4.00.
Athletic/Hotel fees are also due to the office.

YEARBOOK
We are now selling the 2013-2014 yearbooks. The cost is $40.00 to the first
100 sold and then the price goes up to $50.00. International students costs
are $60.00 (this includes shipping).
GRAD CORNER…
Grad Fees are of $175.00 are now due to the Fernie Secondary School office.
Please pay by cheque or cash. Make cheques out to Fernie Secondary
School.
Fundraising:
Bottle drop off at Shayla L’s house – 170 Dicken Road. Drop off any bottle
you have and sorting will take place in late spring.
Easter Bunny Raffle – each grad will be expected to sell 20 tickets for $2.00
each. Tickets will be distributed the week of March 3rd. and the draw will be at
Easter.

Grad photos will take place from April 1st – 4th, 2014 at Fernie Secondary
School from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with Life Touch Photography from Lethbridge,
AB. Posters are up at the school office and library. Students received
brochures at the student grad meeting on Feb. 18th. If you did not receive one
please contact MJ Andreola or Teri Doka.
Meetings:
Next meeting scheduled tentatively Mar. 4th in the Dram Room at 7:00 p.m.
Fernie Secondary School Ski & Snowboard Team
1st Overall at the East Kootenay’s
Sixteen (16) students have qualified for Provincials in Whistler on March 1,
2014. Please come and support our hot dog fundraiser at Overwaitea Foods on
Friday, February 28, 2014. All donations are appreciated!
PE DEPARTMENT NEWS
Basketball Intramurals
The Intramural Basketball season finished on Thurs. Feb. 7 with 4 teams
participating. Thanks to all the students and teachers who participated as well
as those who helped referee and keep score. Congratulations to Team Coultry
for winning the final game. Team Coultry is fortunate to have our local Subway
provide the team with a “Party Sub” to celebrate the season’s accomplishments.
Thank you Fernie Subway for your generosity!!
Hockey Intramurals
It’s Hockey Intramural time and Ms, Barras and Mr. Cullins will be hosting this
year’s hockey season, which begins on Thurs., Feb. 20. Students be sure to
come out and support your fellow students every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch
from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m.
Ski Trips
Students participating in Physical Education classes this semester will be going
on a Ski trip to Fernie Alpine Resort.

HOOPS FOR HEART FUNDRAISER
WHEN: Monday, March 3, 2014
TIME:
11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
WHERE: F.S.S. Gym
Fernie Secondary School’s PE 11/12 class is hosting this event. It will include fun
games, contests, and there will be teachers vs. Sr. Girls and Boys basketball team game
and great prizes!!
We are encouraging everyone to bring a $1 donation for the Heart and Stroke
Foundation. Pledge envelopes are available from Ms. Barras for those wishing to
further collect donations. The more you raise, the more prizes you will earn. Online
