Notes on activities
Fill in the missing markings – Activity for Marwell (Tropical World)
This activity requires the children to spot particular animals in Tropical World
and fill in their patterns and markings on the provided sheet. An extension to
this activity would be to get the children to describe why the animals may
have particular markings. Are they camouflaged? Or is it to show they are
poisonous?
Activity on rainforest animals and what they eat
This activity requires pupils to look out for rainforest animals at Marwell and
think about what they eat (the animals are located on the map provided).
They will need to choose 3 rainforest animals and draw a picture of them in
the photo frames, with a tasty menu in the box next to it. There are signs at
each enclosure to give the children some clues, and one example has been
completed for them.
Fill in the missing markings
On your journey through Tropical World try and spot the animals
below.
When you have found them draw the patterns and markings of the
animal in the outlines.
West African dwarf
crocodile
Tokay gecko
Poison dart frog
Tick the animal that
you think has the best
patterns and colours
for camouflage.
What do rainforest animals eat?
On your walk around the park choose 3 rainforest animals.
Draw the animals in the picture frames, then pick a tasty menu for each of
them filled with treats they like to eat!
