PRINCIPAL POST
Happy last days of summer! Can you believe that we are
almost ready to start the school year?! The staff and
faculty have been busy, preparing to welcome all new and
returning families into the Annunciation Family. With that
being said, I hope that all of the students and families are
also ready to meet (and see again) the teachers and staff
of our school! There will be many familiar faces, but plenty
of new faces this year as well. With that in mind I wanted to
take an opportunity in this special edition of the Eagle to
introduce some of our teachers to you, or rather… Let
them introduce themselves!
Preschool: Mrs. Melissa Owoo
Hello! My name is Melissa Owoo and I am the new
preschool teacher. I have a Bachelor’s in Inclusive Early
Childhood and a Master’s in Multi-Cultural Special Education. I
have taught a wide range of grade levels from Infants to sixth
grade as well as tutored children.
I am married to my wonderful husband of five years
and we have two beautiful daughters a 3 ½ year old and a 3
month old. I enjoy Disney, watching and playing sports,
watching movies, reading, cooking/baking, and spending time
with my family and friends.
I look forward to teaching your children and watching
them grow spiritually, academically, physically, emotionally and
socially.
Kindergarten: Ms. Becky Engle
Ms. Engel attended the University of Cincinnati, where
she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and
her Generalist Endorsement for grades 4-5. She is currently
attending the University of Dayton, where she will obtain a
Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with a Catholic
School Leadership Concentration this winter.
This will be Ms. Engel’s eighth year of teaching, four of
which will have been teaching kindergarten at
Annunciation. Her favorite subjects are math and music, which
is shown through multiple dance breaks and math games
throughout the school year.
In her free time, Ms. Engel enjoys attending Cincinnati
Reds and FC Cincinnati games, watching movies, and drinking A
LOT of coffee.
1st Grade: Mrs. Meg Herzog
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the 10th girl of 11
children. The 11th was my only brother! I had a wonderful
childhood attending St. Catherine of Sienna grade school and
Mother of Mercy high school. I'm a graduate of the University
of Cincinnati.
My husband Tom and I have been married for twenty
seven years and have five children and a silly dog named
Malley. My favorite subject in school was American History, but
I enjoy many subjects. In my spare time, I enjoy reading,
gardening, watching my children's sports activities and family
time spent at Lake Erie.
2nd Grade: Ms. Brittany Trame
Hi, my name is Brittany Trame! I am a recent graduate
from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Science in
Early Childhood Education (PreK-3rd). I completed a full year of
student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom last school year right
here in Clifton.
I grew up in Northern Kentucky and was blessed to
receive a Catholic education from Kindergarten - High School at
Holy Cross in Covington, KY. I come from a line of teachers,
including my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!
I absolutely love to read in my free time and I am
always shopping for new fun books for my classroom library!!
My two favorite things are the UC Bearcats and Disney! Another
fun face is that I performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day
parade in NYC when I was in HS.
I have lots of fresh new ideas for this school year and I
can't wait to share all of them with you and your children!
3rd Grade: Ms. Karly McGreevy
Jr. High (Science): Mrs. Annie Gangidine
Hi, my name is Miss McGreevy. I have been teaching
third grade at Annunciation for three years. My favorite subject
is math, but I also enjoy a good science experiment!
For fun I like to play sand volleyball, go on vacation,
and be around family and friends. I am so excited to meet all of
the incoming third graders this year and cannot wait to begin
the 2016-2017 school year.
Hi! I'm Annie Gangidine and while I'm new to
Annunciation School, I've been a parishioner here for about four
years. I just graduated from the University of Cincinnati and I
also just got married in May and moved to Hyde Park.
I love language, literature, art, and science and this
summer I assisted as a photographer in astrobiological research
for my husband's PhD work in Yellowstone. With all these
changes in my life I was glad to be sticking around to support
Annunciation School!
4th Grade: Ms. Julie Farmer
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio as one of five
siblings. I went to a Catholic grade school, switched to a public
middle school, and eventually ended up at Turpin high school. I
made my way to DeSales University in eastern Pennsylvania
where I studied Catholic Theology and Mathematics with the
intent to become a Catholic school teacher.
I have taught a variety of ages from fifth grade all the
way to seniors in high school. I am particularly excited to be the
Intermediate Teacher for fourth and fifth grade! I feel very
blessed to be at Annunciation and cannot wait to see what this
school year will bring!
Some fun facts about me: I really enjoy all kinds of
vegetables and ice cream, I am an experienced cake decorator, I
love going on bike rides and kayaking, and my little sister is
going into the fourth grade too!
5th Grade: Mr. Adam Minnick
Adam Minnick is the 4th and 5th grade Language Arts
and Social Studies teacher. Along with being a published
children's book author, Adam has been to 47 states and 14
countries. This will be Mr. Minnick's 2nd year teaching at
Annunciation and he is very much looking forward to starting
the school year.
Jr. High (Math): Ms. Kim Cutter
Hello, my name is Miss Cutter, and I am so excited to
start the 2016-2017 school year! This will be my fourth year
teaching at Annunciation and each day is filled with something
new and exciting. My favorite subject is math, but I do also
enjoy a good book, especially on the beach!
For fun I enjoy spending time with my family and
friends, attending sports games, going to the pool, and
reading. As all of my students know, I really love watching and
attending Xavier basketball games and cheering them to
victory! I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces at
Annunciation as we embark this coming school year.
Jr. High (Social Studies): Ms. Celia Deters
Welcome to Annunciation Middle School. My name is
Ms. Celia Deters. I am one of eleven children with seven
brothers and three sisters. To date I have 38 nieces and
nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews. I still live on the
family farm in Walton, Kentucky. Teaching is my second career.
I enjoyed training racehorses for 18 years. Concurrent with that
I was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for fifteen years, as well as
spending 3 years working part time as a paramedic.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Thomas
More College. My teacher licensure instruction was with Notre
Dame College. I just completed a Masters in Secondary
Education at Xavier University and am continuing in the Master
of Education Administration Program. For the past seven years I
was the MS Religion and Social Studies teacher for St. Cecilia
School in Independence, KY. St. Cecilia is my home parish and I
serve as sacristan, lector and Extraordinary Minister of
Communion.
I am excited to be a part of Annunciation and look
forward to meeting everyone.
