Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour
Don't just dream of flying anymore, make it your
favorite pastime at Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour.
Home to many exciting outdoor adventures and
retreat opportunities, this is a high-flying adventure
for all ages that you won't want to miss!
Up High Island Adventure
Whether you are a thrill-seeker or tree-hugger, experience an
exhilarating Island Adventure with Canaan, located on a 100-acre
island in the Catawba River! While your group ‘Embraces the
Adventure,’ your guides will point out interesting highlights of the
area, including native vegetation, water-foul and wildlife as well as
local history. A customized adventure program will be designed
for your group that focuses on your goals and level of adventure.
Options include: the Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour, which is a
9-zipline tour crossing back and forth across the Catawba River on
a 3-hour tour, a High Adventure Course, an Archery Tag, Kayaking
on the Catawba River, and Team Building/Low Ropes.

Catawba Indian Cultural Center
The Catawba Indian Nation is the only federally
recognized tribe in South Carolina, with modern day
tribal lands located in York County. The Catawba
Indians, known as yeh is-WAH h’reh meaning “People
of the River,” have lived on their ancestral lands along
the banks of the Catawba River dating back at least
6000 years. The tribe has a long history and a rich
culture that lives on today.

Basket Creation
Learn the art of basket making. With
several different styles and uses for baskets,
we'll discuss the different materials used as well as the various
basket designs you can make. Explore this ancient art form and
see how the Native Americans used baskets!

Traditional Dinner & Dance with the Catawbas
A delight for both your taste buds and
mind, learn how to prepare some of the delicious
traditional dishes of the Native American. Learn about Native
plants and how they were grown and harvested. Experience how
to create dishes using only the natural herbs and spices that the
Native Americans had to use. You will be shown how we cooked
before there were cast iron pots and skillets. Learn how we
preserved our food with no refrigerator.
Experience an authentic Catawba dinner with us! Enjoy a meal of
venison stew with white/black bean bread and one of our scratch
made cobblers. A 45-minute presentation
from our drummers and dancers will
introduce you to the different dance styles.
In addition to the traditional Catawba
dances, enjoy competitive style dances
found at most pow wows.

Historic Brattonsville
A Taste from the Past…
Historic Brattonsville is a 775-acre internationallyknown historical site and living history farm. It is
one of the most important and heavily visited
cultural attractions in South Carolina. Historic
Brattonsville stands as a testament to the pioneering
spirit and industry of the Bratton family and to the hard
work and sacrifice of their descendants and slaves.
Experience a taste of history. During this
interactive workshop, visitors will have
the privilege to learn about plantation
style cooking. Participants will take part in preparing portions
of meals based on historical research and 19th century recipes.
Participants will sample the dishes they helped create and take
home new recipe ideas that can be replicated at home.

Liberty or Death!
The choice is yours. In this interactive
tour, participants will learn how people
from all walks of life were drawn into
the Revolutionary War. Participants will
experience life as a Revolutionary War
soldier as they march and train as a militia unit,
witness a musket firing demonstration, and tour a Revolutionary
War battlefield where local Patriots defeated the British.
You Are What You Wear
Historic Brattonsville is the home to a rare heritage breed of Gulf
Coast sheep. Participants will experience processing raw wool into
a finished product. This interactive program
will allow participants to card, spin, and
weave wool. At the end of the program,
participants will go home with a sample of
woven wool.

Museum of York County
Immsere yourself in the natural world on a behind-thescenes tour of MYCO’s award-winning exhibitions.
VIP Tour at the Museum of York County
The Curator of Natural History shares the inside story of the
museum’s 60 year history via the collections of over 1,500
natural history specimens and more than 200 mounted animals.
Learn how reptiles and mammals are collected for research
and exhibition and peek into the freezer to see a recent roadkill waiting to be prepared and mounted. Borax, salt, and other
sundries are in the curator’s cupboards; learn how they are
used to preserve specimens in fluid or to make study skins. The
Exhibits Manager reveals ‘what’s real and what’s not’ in the life-like
dioramas rendering the natural habitats of the Carolinas from past
to present. Witness how field-collected leaves are cast into molds
and assist in hand-cutting and painting replicas. Handle burlap and
plaster used to make artificial trees and discover how creatures,
such as the 6-foot Jefferson’s Ground Sloth, are created as a
unique and totally in-house museum production.

Lights, Sound, Action!
NarroWay Production is the “Broadway of Christian
Entertainment.” As one of the most unique attractions
in the South, it's original, Broadway-style shows
are NarroWay's trademark. With hilarious comedy,
chilling drama and fun-filled interactive performances,
NarroWay brings to life stories that inspire and
entertain people of all ages.
Discover the technical aspects of theatre with “Lights, Sound,
Action!” Get a behind-the-scenes taste of what it takes to bring
together a live, Broadway-style show at NarroWay including
various aspects of theatrical lighting, sound and special effects.
Participate in interactive games and learn a number of common
stage directions and techniques. Finally, try your hands — and feet
— at choreography on the NarroWay stage. It all comes together
in this fun, educational, experiential tour!

tour, you are in the spotlight on the NarroWay stage! Take our
“Show Box Challenge” and create your own impromptu drama.
Learn stage techniques, dress up in costumes and become the
characters in your own modern-day parable. Pose for a cast photo
upon completion and have a memorable theatre experience!

Meet the NarroWay animals up close and
personal! Learn about camels when you
meet “Sheba,” Queen of the NarroWay

Kings Mountain Nat'l Military Park
Witness where the Patriots turned the tide of the
American Revolution. Learn the story of this unique
battle and experience life in the Revolutionary Carolina
backcountry as it shaped the story of our nation’s birth.
Ranger for a Day
Try on the hats worn by National Park Service Rangers. Learn the
duties of law enforcement rangers, wildland firefighters, museum
curators / interpreters and resource managers. Try equipment
used to carry out their jobs and receive a Junior Ranger Day
badge and a certificate for your participation.
