See handout…. 2nd read summaries The purpose of fiction is often to tell a story. The purpose of poetry is often to tell a story and convey emotions. You will write a 1 sentence summary for every 2 stanzas(9 total). The summary should include an emotion word. How does the speaker feel at this point in the text? You need to back up your summary/ your interpretation of the speakers emotion by including a quote from the text. Summary Evidence The speaker is tired and then “weak and weary” (line 1) hears someone knocking at his “nearly napping” (line 3) door.
