Children’s Program
“Drawing and Inventing with Leonardo da Vinci”
Ages 6 - 8: Tues, March 14 - April 25, 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
Ages 8 - 11: Wed, March 15 - April 26, 4:15 - 5:45 pm

Develop new drawing skills as you learn about the Renaissance artist,
Leonardo da Vinci. Keep a sketchbook of your drawings and ideas,
complete with invisible written notes. Learn how to sketch from observation
using gesture and contour line in pencil, charcoal and ink. Have fun
combining real subjects and your imaginary world into fantastic drawings.
Older students will begin developing work in 3 dimensions and incorporate
tools of perspective with pencil and charcoal shading. Discover some of
Leonardo’s inventions and then design your own amazing creations!
Advanced Youth
Ages 10 - 13: Tues, Mar 14 - Apr 25, 4:15 - 5:45 pm

Advanced Youth will focus on drawing techniques in more depth. Students
will practice gesture and contour drawing using pencil, charcoal, and ink.
Foundation skills in perspective and modeling light and dark will be
introduced as a variety of subjects are explored. Students will gain
inspiration from demonstrations and viewing both classical and modern art.
Adult Watercolor
Wednesdays, March 8 - April 19, 10 am - 1 pm

Expand your skills in landscape painting as you develop a series of pieces
based on both photos and direct observation. View work from a variety of
watercolor artists and discuss their approach to painting. Learn to simplify
complex imagery into dynamic compositions while maintaining the beauty of
this fluid medium. Have fun experimenting with color mixing, layering, and
mark making as you gain confidence in your own approach to watercolor.
Outdoor plein air painting two days, weather dependent.
(Some experience required)

Classes will not meet the week of April 10 - 14 for Spring Break.
"Women's Night Out" series will return in the Fall.
