Christmas meeting arrangements
Wednesday 7 December – no meeting
Thursday 8 December – Joint Night hike – Ennerdale 6.30 pm
Wrap-up warm and grab your torches for this year’s Christmas night hike. We’ll be meeting at 6.30 pm at
Ennerdale in the public car park on the corner with the track that leads to the campsite. We should be back
around 9.30 pm. Our planned route is suitable for everyone – we’ll be covering about 6 km and walking on
footpaths across fairly flat farmland or roads/tracks. You do not need to wear uniform but please dress for the
conditions and to stay warm. You will need to bring the following kit:







Walking boots (or wellies with thick, warm socks – no trainers, it will be wet and muddy)
Warm clothes (no jeans)
Waterproof coat
Waterproof trousers
Warm hat and gloves (a scarf is also recommended)
Torch (no wind-up torches please)
Something to drink
If you’re planning to come to the hike we’d appreciate it if you could let us know by email, but even if you haven’t
you’re still welcome to turn up on the night. Please keep an eye on your emails as, depending on the weather,
we might need to change plans at the last minute.
Wednesday 14/Thursday 16 December – Caving & Climbing at King Kong Keswick
For those of you who’ve signed up we’re off to Keswick for some indoor caving and climbing at the mighty King
Kong! We’ll be leaving from Whitehaven Academy (meet at the bus drop-off lane near our camp store) at 6.30pm
and should be back at 10.30 pm. You’ll need to wear/bring:







T-shirt
Loose fitting trousers (tracksuit bottoms/activity trousers - NO JEANS)
Well-fitting trainers (NO sloppy Converses or Vans) (If you’ve got climbing shoes, feel free to bring them)
Sweatshirt/fleece
Waterproof jacket
Bottle of non-fizzy drink
Chocolate bar or snack for when we’ve finished
Thursday 5 January – Joint wide games night at Ennerdale Scout Centre
You’ve been asking us for more games in the dark. So we’re celebrating the start of 2017 with a joint wide
games night at Ennerdale! We’ll be meeting at the camp site at 7.00 pm and should be finished around 9.00 pm.
No uniform, you’ll need the same kit as for the night hike. (If you’re planning to come, please let us know by
email, but you’re welcome to turn up. Please check your emails in case of a last minute change of plans.)
Normal Scouts meetings will resume on Wednesday 11 or Thursday 12 January 2016, 7pm – 9pm (ish) at
Hensingham Primary School.

Joint night hike: Thursday 8 December, meet at Ennerdale for 6.30 pm, no uniform but dress sensibly.
King Kong trip: Wednesday 14/Thursday 15 December, meet at Whitehaven Academy for 6.30pm.
Joint wide games: Thursday 5 January 2017, meet at Ennerdale for 7.00pm, dress sensibly.
Normal meetings resume: Wednesday 11 / Thursday 12 January 2017, 19:00 at Hensingham School.
