IntroductiontotheCRC Florida'sConstitutionprovidesthatonceevery20yearsathirty-sevenmemberrevision commissionconvenesforthepurposeofreviewingtheConstitutionandrecommending changesforvoterconsideration.TheCommission,whichstartsmeetingin2017andwill finishitsworkin2018,isimportantandpowerfulbecausewith22votes,itcanplace constitutionalrevisionsdirectlyonthe2018ballot.Thereisnoautomaticcourtreview.It willtake60%ofthevotersforanyofthesechangestobeaddedtotheconstitution. TheCommissioniscomposedoftheAttorneyGeneral,fifteenappointeesfromthe Governor,nineappointeesfromtheFloridaSenatePresident,nineappointeesfromthe SpeakeroftheFloridaHouseofRepresentatives,andthreeappointeesfromtheChief JusticeoftheFloridaSupremeCourt.TheGovernorappointstheChair. TheCommissionersmeetforapproximatelyoneyear,travelingtheStateofFlorida, identifyingportionsoftheconstitutionthatneedtobechanged,researchingissues,and possiblyrecommendingchanges.
