[Jesus said,] “Whoever wants to
become great among you must
be your servant, and whoever wants to be first
must be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not
come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life
as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:26-28
This month we are focusing on “Serving Others”.
Serving others feeds the fire in our hearts because
we are doing what God wants us to do. When we
serve others – we are serving God. Real servants
serve with all their hearts – no matter what the
task. You can do this by being cheerful when your
parents ask you to do chores, being willing when
teachers ask for volunteers for the not-so-fun
tasks, helping others when they need help, i.e.
shoveling snow, mowing their yard, carrying in
groceries, doing dishes. Think of ways you can
serve others…it can even be your mom or dad!
Carry on soldiers of God – see how many ways you
can serve others!!!

Serve Others
Interact with God’s People
Open up and Talk about God
Notice God in the Ordinary
The Father/Daughter night is back by popular
demand on January 26th. Events will start with
supper being served at 6:30 p.m. in the church
basement. Don’t be late! Games and good
fellowship will follow. If a GEMS’ dad is unable
to attend, be sure to invite a grandfather, uncle,
neighbor man, etc. or let Linda know and she
will get a volunteer! Games will be set up so
that a dad with more than one daughter can
participate with all their daughters.

This year, we are asking our GEMS to design
bulletin covers that will be used for GEMS
Sunday. The bulletin cover must incorporate
our theme “Feed the Fire” and GEMS.
Bulletin cover designs must be turned in to
Linda by Wednesday, January 26th. If you
have any questions, please contact Linda.
We are excited to see the many designs our
GEMS can complete.

Keep Healthy
As we are now officially in the winter season,
everyone will be more susceptible to colds, flu and
other illnesses. If you feel ill and/or have missed
school on a Wednesday, or have a fever, we ask that
you be courteous and do not attend GEMS that
night as we want to help keep everyone healthy.
We will miss seeing you but we want to have you
back to GEMS as soon as possible – healthy!
In case of inclement weather, please listen to
either KBOE radio or check the church website
to see if GEMS is cancelled. If school is
cancelled, GEMS will also be cancelled.








