Grace Church Chronicle - Grace Episcopal Church Windsor

Grace Church Chronicle
June 2017
Volume 31, Issue 6
To share and extend to others our experience of God's love
through worship, education, fellowship and service.
To my Family of Grace,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ. May we always remember that He has
promised to be always with us.
Well, the time has come that the Church Year is “winding down.” We just had Children’s Sunday, and on June
4, we will celebrate Church School graduation, Teacher Recognition, the Church Picnic and the Choir’s last
day. Whew. Not to mention that June 4th is also PENTECOST! 😊
As we all go on vacation, go to the Cape, or to our cottages, go to a lake, or just stay home to rest, let us not
forget to take God with us wherever we go. God isn’t hard to pack, as a matter of fact, the best “rest” we can
find is resting in the Lord! Jesus told us “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11: 28-30)
My prayer for you is that you have a wonderful, restful, and RECREATIONal vacation. Rest, get your
“batteries charged,” and come back to us fresh and ready to greet all you meet in the name of our Savior!
Faithfully in Christ,
PS: Don’t forget your pledge over vacation! 😊

$4340 was raised at our rummage

donated and especially those who set
up and cleaned up. You’re amazing
and everyone together makes for a
wildly successful rummage sale!
Grace Church Book Discussion Group
Please take a look at our Historical Memorial Case in
the back of the church. As you walk in, you will see
it on your left behind the last pew. It was Father
Chip’s excellent idea to move the case into the church
from the Great Hall, where it is now more visible.
My mother, Jerry Snelgrove, was the Grace Church
Historiographer for many years and the case is in
memory of my grandfather, Frank Snelgrove, who
was our church treasurer for 50 years! My mom used
to fill the case with displays of Grace’s history,
changing it up often. She loved researching and
gathering historical information, photos, and
mementos of our church, parishioners, and events,
and displaying them in the case. I will continue to
update the display in my mom’s memory and for all
here at Grace. I will change it up quarterly as the
seasons change. Currently, the display is of Grace’s
100th Anniversary in September, 1964; the guestbook,
bulletin, and photos of the re-enactment of the laying
of the church’s cornerstone. For more information on
the history of Grace Church, please visit

Flash
Rachel Anne Ridge
The heartwarming tale of an irrepressible donkey
who needed a home―and forever changed a
family.
Rachel Anne Ridge was at the end of her rope. The
economy had crashed, taking her formerly thriving
business along with it. She had been a successful
artist, doing work she loved, but now she felt like a
failure. How would her family pay their bills? What
would the future hold? If only God would somehow
let them know that everything was going to be all
right . . . and then Flash the donkey showed up.
If there is ever a good time to discover a wounded,
frightened, bedraggled donkey standing in your
driveway, this wasn’t it. The local sheriff dismissed
Flash as “worthless.” But Rachel didn’t believe that,
and she couldn’t turn him away. She brought Flash
into her struggling family during their darkest
hour―and he turned out to be the very thing they
needed most. Flash is the true story of their
adventures together in learning to love and trust;
breaking down whatever fences stood in their way;
and finding the strength, confidence, and faith to
carry on.
The library has not collected copies for us. We are
passing around a few I ordered. If anyone would like
to read it and join the discussion, they may contact me
and we will try to get a copy to them, or they can get
it through Amazon. It is an engaging true story, easy,
inspirational, and enjoyable to read.

If you could only sense how important you
are to the lives of those you meet; how
important you can be to the people you
may never even dream of. There is
something of yourself that you leave at
every meeting with another person.

O greater Maker of this thy great sun,
Give me the strength this one day’s race to
run,
Fill me with light, fill me with sun-like
strength,
Fill me with joy to rob the day its length.
Light from within, light that will outward
shine,
Strength to make strong some weaker heart
than mine,
Joy to make glad each soul that feels its
touch;
Great Father of the sun, I ask this much.
