SYNOPSIS
Kuhlman was founded in 1896 by Etna
Kuhlman and was one of the first
distribution transformer manu-facturers in
the USA. Kuhlman has always been
associated with providing the highest quality
transformers in the industry.
Arteche was founded in 1946 by Aurelio
de Arteche based on the principle of
manufacturing electrical goods capable of
meeting the most demanding standards of
durability and quality.
Today, the Kuhlman Electric Corporation
is owned by the The Carlyle Group, has 2
manufacturing facilities in the USA and
provides medium power, distribution, and
instrument transformers and field
engineering services for a variety of
customers worldwide.
Today, Arteche continues to be a privately
held business with 6 manufacturing
locations worldwide and equipment
installations in over 120 countries. The
Arteche Group is a world renowned
manufacturer of the Measurement and
Protection equipment.

Instrument Transformers (5 kV - 500 kV)
Kuhlman and Arteche, both manufacturers of
quality instrument transformers used worldwide,
envisioned the synergies of both companies and
entered into a formal distribution and licensing
agreement in December 1996.
Kuhlman’s strength resided in substation class
instrument transformers from 15 kV through
138 kV as well as specialty products.
Arteche’s strength in metering class 5-35 kV
instrument transformers as well as higher voltage
instrument transformers rated 230 through
500 kV allowed a seamless consolidation of
product lines.
Through the success of the relationship, Arteche’s
production facility conveniently located in Tepeji
del Rio, near Mexico City has undergone a major
expansion to better serve the Americas.
These new facilities provide:
• New high voltage laboratory capable of testing
through 500 kV
• Increased production capacity and expansion
of the voltage class through 345-420 kV
• New low and medium voltage indoor and
outdoor dry type production facility
• CCVT products
• Combined metering unit products
