FRENCH YEAR 6 PORTION -1ST TERM EXAMS JANUARY 2017
1.
Verbs- AVOIR- ÊTRE- ALLER and all regular ER verbs
Students must know how to fill in the blanks with the correct form of the
verb, they must know the English meanings of the verbs in the file as
well as use the verbs to write simple sentences.

Possessive Adjectives:
MON MA MES
TON TA TES
SON SA SES
Students must know how to fill in the blanks using a suitable possessive adjective.
Revise the exercises done in the French file.

The 4 prepositions in front of cities and countries- à, en, au, aux, as well as the
other 6 common prepositions sur, sous, entre, dans, devant and derrière

Placement and agreement of adjectives : Revise all the work done from
file. Students must know which adjectives come before the noun. They
must know the rules for making adjectives agree. They must learn the
irregular adjectives from the list. ADJECTIVES AND COLOURS MUST BE
THOROUGHLY STUDIED.

The use of NEGATIVE : USING ‘NE’ before the verb and ‘PAS’ after the
verb to make a sentence negative. EG.Je parle français. Je ne parle pas
français.

Colours- Students must know meanings and how the different forms agree
with the nouns they describe.

Feasts and festivals in France and some international popular festivals

Des vêtements (clothes)- Students must be able to identify and label some clothes
vocabulary AND Vocabulaire de classe- classroom vocabulary.
12.
Les animaux- students must be able to identify & label animals and
describe them using colours & adjectives and compose a short text
to describe an animal in 10 simple sentences.
13.
i) revise thoroughly text book- Tricolore Total 1 Units 1, 2, 3, 4
and 5 ( pages 6 – 59 )
ii) Work book Grammar in Action pages 5- 20
iii) FRENCH FILE ( Pages 2-60 and 65-74) and your note book
COMPREHENSIONS –unseen passages based on the vocabulary. Some answers will be
required in French and some in English. Follow instructions carefully to avoid
disappointment.
