Level System
Having listened to parent feedback regarding the way in which we reward and record children’s
behaviour, going forward, we will no longer be using the level system. From next week, we will be
altering the way we record and reward our students learning, behaviour and attendance in class.
Instead of receiving a level for each lesson/session, students will have the opportunity to earn
‘Tokens’. There will be ten tokens available to earn during each lesson/session. We have
structured the timetable so that there are ten sessions in each day. Therefore, your child will have
the opportunity to earn up to 100 tokens per day. Tokens will be awarded to students for
attendance, behaviour and effort.
In class, we will record these tokens using a system called the ‘Class Dojo’, which works via an
app. As parents and carers you will be able to track your child’s progress throughout the day. You
will soon receive an invitation from your child’s class teacher to join Class Dojo. The system works
on a mobile phone, computer or tablet device (eg iPad). If you do not have access to any of the
above devices, you will be informed of your child’s token total each day in their yellow Home–
School Diary.
We feel that this is a much more positive and inclusive system that allows us to recognise and
rewards children’s individual needs and achievements. Further information on the Token System
is attached.
We would like to invite you to our school on Monday, 20th March 2017 from 5.00 pm – 5.30 pm.
The meeting will give you a chance to look in more depth at Tokens and hear more about how the
new reward system will work. The session will also give you an opportunity to ask any questions
you may have and speak to staff about the changes in more detail.
Please confirm your attendance at the meeting by completing, signing and return the attached slip
to your son / daughters class teacher by Thursday, 16th March 2017.
