Medieval Manor Project
Task: You will be creating a model of what a medieval manor (house & other
buildings/land) as a well as a short essay describing your model & what it includes.
Step 1: Research- Take a look @ various websites and/or books to learn
about medieval manors, what they looked like & what buildings would need to be
included.
 Look for what was included in medieval manors & how buildings looked.

lot of slideshows about manor life & what was all needed on a
medieval manor

links to manorialsim & various parts of a manor

typical medieval manor
Step 2: Manor Building- Using appropriate
materials, construct a moderate sized manor model that
includes the necessary parts.
 Make sure your manor is put in the proper setting
 To the best of your ability make sure your manor is
built to scale.
 Take a few “creative liberties” with your manor to
fill in ruined features that are necessary, but maybe
were not shown completely on websites or in books.
Step 3: Brief Essay- Type a two paragraph essay with one paragraph
focused on your model & one paragraph focused on why certain parts were
needed.
 Paragraph 1- Describe your manor model to the best of your ability. Include
what features are present & materials used.
 Paragraph 2- Describe what a real working manor would have been like.
Why certain features were needed & how they helped the manor to
function.
Step 4: Bibliography- Include a sources bibliography listing any resource you
took ideas from throughout your manor project.
 Make an alphabetical list of any book or website that you use to research &
create your project. Each bibliography entry should have…
