From antiquity (1st century AD), Burgundian vineyards have had a reputation synonymous with quality and prestige.
From the Gauls to Napoléon, monks in the middle ages and the Dukes of Burgundy, all have played an integral part in influencing the
vineyards, winemakers and the reputation of Burgundy’s wines.
THE VINTAGE – Burgundy 2014
Twice a year we travel to France to taste the wines and get a feel for the quality of each vintage. And nowhere is it more important than
in Burgundy. In 2014 Scott was in Burgundy at the start of June for flowering, the weather was beautiful, two weeks of blue skies and
warm temperatures. This weather didn’t last however and through the middle part of summer it was cool and often wet. However at
the end of August this all changed and through to harvest it was spectacular.
The cool summer meant an unusually late vintage with 110 days from flowering to harvest. Since then Jean-Christophe has tasted
these wines twice out of barrel and once out of bottle his verdict “They have a thrilling purity, focus and intensity. The transparency
here is the hallmark of a great, classic vintage.”
Our opinions have been mirrored by those of critics such as Burghound, Tanzer, Galloni and Neal Martin.
We think that 2014 is a must buy, in many ways there are similarities with the 2010s which for us is one of the all time greats.
INDENT - What is indent?
Sometimes when buying wines there is an opportunity to get a price advantage by purchasing in advance. With Bordeaux they have
the En Primeur system where you buy in barrel and then receive the wine when it is bottled approximately two years later.
For other regions of France such as Burgundy we offer an indent system, whereby you commit to purchasing wines that are already in
bottle either prior to them leaving France or while already in transit. These wines you will normally receive within six months of the
offer and at a significant discount on retail pricing.
The pricing shown in this indent offer includes duty, excise, ALAC and international freight. It excludes GST which will be included
when invoiced on arrival. Payment is required once wines have landed and been invoiced. Local freight charges may also apply.
Some of the wines are already here, some are in transit and the balance will be leaving France shortly.
CÔTE DE BEAUNE
FEMININE - SILKY - ELEGANT - MEDIUM-BODIED
The Cote de Beaune is home to the great benchmark Grand Cru Chardonnays – “Montrachet” and “Corton Charlemagne”,
and also the famous Pinot appellations of Pommard and Volnay. But some of the most surprising values can be found in
villages either just to the north – Aloxe Corton, Ladoix, Savigny – or to the south – Santenay.

A family domaine, which is certified organic since 2013, now covers 17 hectares and is complemented by
a thriving negociant business. The style of wine is for dark coloured, powerful wines from fully ripe grapes
and complemented by plenty of new oak.

In 2012 Étienne de Montille purchased the property and has radically reformed the estate, dropping
unsuitable vineyards, converting to organic (and indeed biodynamic) farming, and further improving the

Domaine des Tilleuls - Philippe Livéra
In the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, between the church and
the castle, set a charming house, with two pointy turrets either
side of a courtyard, more fairy talelike than a wine Burgundy
estate. Once built for Margaret of Burgundy – Queen of France
and daughter of Duke of Burgundy Robert II – this property is
today the kingdom of one of the most exciting domaines in the
Cote de Nuits - Domaine des Tilleuls.
The young, quietly spoken Damien Livéra is now responsible
for the wines, but it was his great-grandparents – Maté Livera,
an Italian mason - who began the domaine in 1920. Damien’s
father, Philippe Livera, took over from his parents in 1986, and
in-turn, Damien began to take hold of the reigns in 2007.
Damien has quickly established himself as one of the top
young winemakers in the Côte de Nuits. His mojo is simple,
“the vine does all the work”; it’s why each appellation gets the
same level of care, with minimum human intervention, from
pruning to the harvest.
The vineyards are cared for according to ‘lutte raisonnée’
principles : plowing, no herbicides, indigenous yeasts in the
cellar, manual harvest, French oak barrels ageing etc.
The estates 8.5 hectares are mainly in Gevrey-Chambertin with
a plot in the neighbouring village of Fixin, some premium Crus
such as the prestigious Grand Cru Chapelle Chambertin and
also the very interesting monopole parcel of 1.5 hectare facing
the property, named Clos Village.
Damien Livera’s wines make you travel in Gevrey’s mosaic
unique terroirs. With an excellent ability to age (up to 20
years), Livera’s family encourages wine lovers to exercise
patience. If you haven’t already, it’s now time for you to
