System Requirements
Mac OS 10.3 "Panther" or higher including Leopard (North American Version).
40 MB or more free Hard Drive space.
Internet access (for downloading software and exams, and uploading completed exam files).

MAC EXAMS WILL BE RETRIEVED VIA THE USB BY THE PROCTOR FROM THEIR DESKTOPS!!!!!
NOTE: Securexam Student for Windows cannot be used on an Apple computer.
Mac users must use Securexam Student for Mac.
Pre-Installation Maintenance
Students are strongly encouraged to perform the following maintenance on their computer prior to
installing the Securexam Student software.
Ensure that the computer meets the minimum requirements.
Ensure that the latest virus software updates and definitions are installed and have been run.
Ensure that the latest updates for Mac OS have been installed. Updates can be found by selecting the
“Software Update” command on the Apple menu.
Ensure that the computer’s hard disk is working properly by performing hard disk optimization or
defragmentation.

The maintenance outlined above will help ensure that the computer is in good general working order.
Install Securexam Student
1.
Download the Securexam for the Mac installer.
2.
Open the DMG (Disk Image) file if your web browser did not automatically open it.
3.
Double-click the PKG (Package) file.
4.
On the Introduction screen, click “Continue”.
5.
On the Select Destination screen, select your hard drive and click “Continue”.
6.
On the Installation Type screen, click “Install”.
7.
On the Authenticate window, enter your password and click OK.
8.
You will receive a message that your laptop must be restarted when the installation is done. Click “Continue
Installation”.
9.
On the Finish Up screen, click “Restart”.
The Securexam application folder will appear in your Mac’s Applications folder.

STUDENT QUICK GUIDE
1.
Close down ALL software applications, leaving only your Desktop.
2.
Double-click on the Securexam Student icon in the Securexam folder of
your Mac’s Applications folder.
3.
You will be asked to confirm the date on your computer. If the date is
correct, click “Continue”.
4.
You will be asked to close all applications before running Securexam, and
be notified that your computer will log you off to set up the exam
environment. Click OK.
5.
Log in to your computer.
6.
On Securexam’s login widow, enter the following information:

Exam ID: Enter your ID for anonymous grading or your full name if
anonymity is not required.
Class Name: Enter the name of the class.
Professor Name: Enter the name of the professor.
Exam Date: You do not need to adjust the exam date.
When you have finished entering the information, click “Proceed”. Your
login information will appear in the header of the exam document.
7.
As the exam begins to appear, you will receive a message instructing you
to type START when the proctor has indicated that the Securexam Session
has begun.
8.
Type “START” in the window and then press the Enter key on your
keyboard.
9.
You may type anything you want into the exam. Your work will be saved
automatically every 60 seconds. You may also use the “Save” button on
the toolbar.
There are no questions to answer in the exam. You may type as much as
you want.
If you need to reboot your computer during the exam, you will be
prompted for a password to re-enter the exam. Enter the word “Practice”.
10. When you have finished using the exam, you may exit by clicking on the
“Exit” in the “File” menu.
11. A window will appear to confirm that you wish to exit the exam. Select
“Exit Exam” and click the “Proceed” button.
12. On the “Save Exam File” window, select your Desktop and click the
“Save” button. Do not change the name of the exam file.
13. After the exam has been saved, you will receive a message that you will
be logged out of the computer. Click OK.
14. Log in to your computer.
15. Locate the exam file on your Desktop.
16. Verify that you are connected to the Internet.
17. Log in to your Planet SSI account.
18. Refer to the Planet SSI Student User Guide for instructions to upload your
exam file.
DO NOT FOLLOW STEPS 16-18!!!!! RAISE YOUR HAND
AND THE EXAM PROCTOR WILL RETRIEVE YOUR EXAM FROM
YOUR DESKTOP VIA THE USB KEY FOR PRINTING!!!!
