Week 1 Classwork Williams the Castle Builder I will: 


Identify three things you know about William of Normandy Correctly label a motte and bailey castle Come up with a plan to attack a castle. Week 2 Classwork The Domesday Book I will: • Complete a survey about the Domesday Book. 
Watch a film clip with Williams describing the Domesday Book. 
Answer questions on the film. 
Describe the main reason William felt the need for such a book.
Week 3 Classwork The Feudal System I will: 



Create a hierarchy of school and organize themselves into a triangle of authority. (group work) Use prompt questions to understand how the feudal system worked. Watch a film clip called clever William based on the feudal system Hot seat students based on their jobs in the feudal system. Week 4 Classwork How did castles develop 1 I will: 

Learn why King John thought Rochester Castle was important. How soldiers laid siege to the castle and the different weapons and tactics they used. Play the game ‘Say what you Siege’! Homework Big Write Imagine you are an angry Englishman who has led a failed attack on a motte and bailey castle. Describe the obstacles you faced on the way before you got to the keep and were eventually defeated. Homework King William fact file Compete and stick into your books. Homework How is society structured today? How is it different from and similar to the feudal system? Homework Research a real castle and find a picture of it that shows as many of the castle features that have been studied. Write a short description of how the castle functioned.
Homework Complete a wise up word research for a test. Homework Research another historic siege and write a short report for a newspaper describing the events and quotes from soldiers.
