The First Californians

Art Projects
As a part our school programs, each student has the opportunity to create their own work of art
with guidance from specially trained art instructors, and projects inspired by our permanent and
special exhibitions. Please see the attached list for art project options, and notify the tours office
of your selection no less than 2 weeks before your scheduled tour, or one will be selected for you.
Please select one project per visit date.
The First Californians
Native American Clay Pinch Pots
Students learn the process of working with clay to create
their own pinch pot, and applying designs and symbols used
by the Native Americans of the Southwest. Students are
guided through a three step process by Kidseum Art
Instructors. Projects are created using air drying clay and
will be almost dry the next day, and may be painted during
your visit if time permits. If your class does this project,
please make sure to bring boxes to transport the pots back to
school. (Typical project size is 4”x4”x4”)
