Judge Robert W. Hutcheson
The Greene County Juvenile Court
Diversion Program is an informal court
alternative offered to unruly and/or minor
delinquent involved youth. Diversion
focuses on holding youth accountable for
their behavior. Success in Diversion is
dependent on having a strong working
relationship with the child, the parent, and
often the school.
PURPOSE
The primary purpose of the Diversion
Program is to prevent formal court
involvement for those youth who have had
no previous court history. The Diversion
Program is based on a widely accepted
belief that no all cases are best handled
through the formal court .
WHO IS ELIGIBLE


Youth charged with a
misdemeanor who are first time
offenders.
Youth who display unruly
behaviors at home.

You who are truant from school.

Youth at risk of being
adjudicated unruly or
delinquent as a result of a
complaint with this Court.
GOAL
The goal is to address present acting out
behavior by providing short-term,
intensive court intervention for youth
and their families. The target
population is youth ages 8 through 17.
The diversion program’s focus is on
behavioral ownership, through selfdiscipline, individual and family
empowerment and victim awareness.
The Program aims at reducing
recidivism by improving the youth’s
decision making skills, strengthening
the family relationships , as well as
enhancing the child’s self-esteem.
