Juice Festival Team Juice Application Pack Juice Festival is NewcastleGateshead’s festival for children and young people, our festival happens in the last two weeks in October and we are currently recruiting young people aged 16+ to be members of Team Juice. Team Juice is our young leadership group – Team Juice regularly meets all year round and members each have their own responsibilities towards the festival, helping us plan, run and deliver Juice Festival. This application pack will give you more information on what being a member of Team Juice involves. Team Juice is a team of young people who work with the Juice Festival core team to help plan, design and run Juice Festival. Team Juice have regular meetings all year round to work on Juice Festival, as well as going on trips and visits together to other arts and culture events, and working on festival events in the lead up to the festival in September-October, and during the festival’s public programme in October half term. Expectations of a Team Juice Member What will you do? You will carry out a varied range of tasks from administration to events and workshops including: • Publicising the festival and events • Promoting young people and the arts • Being involved in behind scenes work • Working as a member of a team as well as under your own steam • Contributing to the planning process leading up to the festival • Working with artists, the Juice Festival team, volunteers, venues, schools, cultural and creative partners • Supporting young people and their families in events and activities • Attending regular meetings and sessions with the rest of Team Juice and Juice Festival staff year round • Working during the public festival in a public facing role – e.g. talking to audiences and participants, assisting on events, gathering feedback / evaluation • Taking part in evaluation of the festival • Acting as an advocate for the festival • Supporting the recruitment of other young people for the festival in roles such as volunteering Why get involved? Team Juice is more than just gaining skills and experience it’s about doing something worthwhile and making great events for children, young people and their families. Your enthusiasm will encourage other people to get involved in the arts and take part in exciting activities. What will happen if you get involved? You will: • Meet lots of different people and have the chance to network with cultural and creative professionals as well as the general public • Gain hands on experience of planning and delivering a festival • Have the opportunity to showcase your own skills • Develop a proven track record of experience in arts and culture events • Build confidence and resilience • Have a better understanding of the practical work involved in arts and culture events • Have the chance to take on responsibilities and develop leadership skills Who are we looking for? Juice Festival is looking for people who are: • Interested in the Juice Festival and get what it’s about • Respectful of others • Enthusiastic • Eager to learn new skills • Hardworking and committed • Adaptable • Willing to help others • Friendly • Reliable • Good with time management • Able to carry out basic IT tasks • Good at organising • Able to work as a member of a team and under their own steam when they need to Ideally you will also be: • Good at communicating with a range of different people • Encouraging and supportive Arts Award As part of Team Juice, you will also have the opportunity to complete your Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts Award – Arts Award gives you the opportunity to expand your arts skills, knowledge and experience whilst getting an accredited qualification. For more information on Arts Award see www.artsaward.org.uk Dates, fees and membership It is free to become a member of Team Juice and members will attend year round meetings voluntarily. During the busy period of festival planning, and during the festival itself you will receive a bursary of £300 to work on the festival – your duties during this time will be confirmed as the planning for the festival gets underway, but we expect Team Juice members to have good availability during the festival period of Mon 19 October – Sun 1 November. Approximately, you will work a total of 7 days across the busy festival period. During the year, you will have the opportunity to attend arts and culture events and visits and these are funded by Juice Festival. If you choose to do your Arts Award, Juice Festival will cover the cost of support and moderation for your award too. How do I apply?
