Polish Silicon Bridge
Polish Silicon Bridge is a governmental program aimed at accelerating the development of innovative high-technology companies that
wish to expand into the US market, and Silicon Valley in particular.
The project consists of three phases. Both phase I and II take place
in Poland where companies participate in an opening seminar and a
5-day preparatory ‘bootcamp’ session at which they study and train
with the help of experts from Silicon Valley.
The third phase of the project, referred to as the Acceleration Program, takes part in the San Francisco Bay Area where companies
individually consult mentors and segment specialists, and have
the opportunity to interact with potential business partners and
investors through pitch and presentation sessions, as well as B2B
and B2C meetings. 25 companies presented in this booklet have
qualified to take part in phase III, and are starting their activities in
Silicon Valley in winter 2014/2015.
Polish Silicon Bridge program is funded by the European Union,
implemented by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development
(PARP) and the Trade and Investment Section office in Silicon Valley
(SVAC), and supervised by the Polish Ministry of Economy.
The experience gained will be used in future iterations of the program in Silicon Valley as well as in other innovation hubs in the US
and other countries.
Silicon Valley Acceleration Center (SVAC) was initiated by the Trade
and Investment Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland
in Washington DC. Our goal is to help Polish start-ups accelerate
their growth and succeed in the global market through the Silicon
Valley ecosystem.
Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) is a government
agency providing support to entrepreneurs in the implementation
of competitive and innovative projects. Our objective is to aid development of the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises in
Poland, which is done with state budget and European Union funding.
A key task of PARP is to support export, including strengthening the competitive position of Polish enterprises
on foreign markets and facilitating
business match-making. To that end,
PARP offers Polish SMEs opportunities to participate in economic missions around the world, cooperative
exchanges and fair events.

Polish Silicon Bridge. One of the tasks of the Ministry of the Economy
is the promotion of Polish brands on world markets and the provision
of support for companies planning their activity beyond the borders
of Poland. Silicon Valley is just such a world market. Home to the
world’s most innovative companies, bellwether venture capital funds,
and an environment that exponentially rewards risk-taking, Silicon
Valley embraces early-stage innovators and entrepreneurs, guides
them inherently, provides the nurturing atmosphere that early-stage
companies thrive on, and with its unique proprietary formula, transforms them into the world renowned companies we know today.
Poland’s programming, engineering and technology talent is similarly
world-renowned. Our programmers, for instance, are among the top
two, best in the world. You may have heard that Mark Zuckerberg of
Facebook on his most recent trip to our nation, declared that Poland
is the second-most important recruiting ground for programmers in
the world over. This is why the companies that come to Silicon Valley
from Poland, find themselves in a familiar environment, one with
like-minded partners, strategic allies, and friends who have already
been working with our companies for many years, and at the highest
level of quality in the world.
We are elated to be in such great company, and contribute to this
unique club of innovation. Furthermore I predict, that with our zeal,
intellect, know-how and perseverance, we will help places such as
Silicon Valley succeed even further and beyond their planned expectations. We are here to grow.
Moreover, I sincerely hope that the experience gained by Polish companies participating in the Polish Silicon Bridge program will be used
in future iterations of our programs in Silicon Valley, and replicated
by other Polish innovation hubs in the US, and across the world.
Today’s Poland is witnessing its largest expansion in over 300 years.
With permanent GDP growth for the better part of the last decade,
and as the only nation in the European Union that had an increase
in GDP, while others were stuck in their recessions; is evident that

Poland is a powerful, and unique, partner for growth. We need to further this growth beyond our borders. Hence, Silicon Valley is precisely

My plans/expectations for the US market
Apeiron intends to reach the main players from the chemical and
pharmaceutical sectors whose headquarters and research centers
are based in the US. We are aware that the US market is one of the
most competitive ones, and we believe that we can provide a tool
for our customers to build an advantage over its competitors. We
expect to establish good relationships with customers what will result
in fruitful business.

process optimization (recognition of bottlenecks in processes, optimization of usage of resources and overall process value taking SLA’s
into consideration). We would like to build an ecosystem around the
platform that will allow independent developers and designers to
create new components for the platform, that will be available for

My plans/expectations for the US market
We expect to get advice regarding effective introduction of our product into the US market. We also expect to grow contact network.
We would like to find potential partners and customers in the US

About the product
Biometric cryptographic solution bioPKI is a server-side digital and
encryption platform (working in the SaaS model) utilizing a user’s
blood vessel system for authorization and authentication. mySecurePhone platform is a software and hardware on Android/iOS for
encrypting phone calls, emails or text messages on mobile devices.
It is also used for encrypting documents, emails and files on the
laptop/desktop. It uses face recognition as one of security factors
and utilizes cryptographic mSD or SIM cards as a Hardware Security
Module in enterprise version.
My plans/expectations for the US market
Since ca. 30% of our current customers come from the United States
(with no targeted marketing and promotion) we are sure that there is
a huge market opportunity for our products and solutions on the US
market. Now we are looking for: business partners, especially with
strong relationships on the corporate market, just to open the door
for enterprises, corporates and public administration; investment
($0.5M) for further development, sales and marketing and market
expansion.

entry/exit transactions at a large number of car parks simultaneously.
An additional advantage of this approach is that the service does not
require the owner or operator of the car park to manage their own

My plans/expectations for the US market
An immediate priority will be attempting to establish cooperation
with American companies from the car parking sector through an
American representative, who will be on-hand to initiate contacts
and set up appointments. We also plan to participate in networking
meetings in the form of B2B and B2C, business-mixers and events
organized by affiliated companies from the car parking industry
(National Parking Association, International Parking Institute). We’re
also considering making product presentations to potential investors
who may be interested in supporting the introduction of the product
onto the market in the United States by
means of a joint venture.

My plans/expectations for the US market
We chose the US market for introducing CosmeticScan as it is one of
the largest cosmetics markets in the world; there is no direct competition for our service, and the development of e-services is the highest
among all the surveyed countries. We see the United States as the
perfect target environment for introducing this product, regarding its
intuitive functionality and high internet
sales potential. However, the company needs people with experience and

inventory. As a result of not using authorized services by vehicle owners in a post-warranty period, a large number of car parts are never
sold and accumulates for years in dealers’ warehouses. Dead stock
arises as a result of maintaining minimum stocks of parts for most car
models, mistakes in parts ordering or cancellation of purchase by customers. Dealers are ready to sell this inventory with large discounts.
The average level of dead stock of each of the 17,000 dealers on the
US market is at least $100,000, assuming the average discount on
sold parts will be 50%, the US market potential is at least $ 850M.
About the product
InfoParts is a virtual automotive spare parts outlet. It is a cloud SaaS
service integrated with dealers’ DMS (Dealer Management Systems).
InfoParts virtual store will be automatically supplied by data marked
in DMS. InfoParts is equipped with a component which enables automatic simultaneous ordering and electronic documents delivery to
multiple sellers in a single purchase process. This module automatically notifies a suitable courier about parcel pickup, with the buyer’s
address provided by the courier system on the address label printed
by the courier. The payment module is integrated with popular online
payment systems. InfoParts automates settlements between the
system operator, dealers and courier companies.
My plans/expectations for the US market
The company goal is to find a local partner who will become the
InfoParts operator in the United States. This strategy will minimize
costs and risks associated with a lack of specific local market knowledge. We plan to share the income from commission on parts sold
with the US InfoParts operator.

My plans/expectations for the US market
The US is the single biggest market of innovative ICT companies
which are primary customer group for Track. Entering the US market,
combined with a 4-6 week presence in SV under the Silicon Bridge
program and establishing partnership with PM tool vendors will allow us to build the initial user base. We also believe that thanks to
networking sessions in the Valley and gathered feedback we will be
able to fine-tune the product for the US market.

The US is a vast and important market for our products, but we
realize that there is a great number of differences between Europe
and the US that need to be properly addressed in order to succeed.
We plan to move forward and take actions in order to be present in
that market. We have taken part in two of the three stages of the
Silicon Bridge programme so far. It gave us a good insight into what
to expect when entering the US market through Silicon Valley. The
boot camp with its lecturers and one-to-one sessions with a mentor
provided an understanding of what requirements need to be met
in order to successfully enter the US
market. We think that the program has
been very beneficial for the company
and its expansion strategy development.

the US market and distribute our products. We have to meet entrepreneurs in our industry and obtain additional information about the
specifics of the area (customers’ needs and expectations, demands
regarding labeling, technical instructions, etc.). We need to learn
about American business people who can become our new clients.
We also expect to get a possibility of exchanging experiences in the
area of improving and modifying our existing offer (vacuuming, filters).
That is why we take part in the Silicon Bridge program.

My product OptProp, a dedicated application for smartphone mobile
devices, comprehensively addresses economical and safety aspects
of power boat voyages. The power-boater’s personal assistant continuously monitors fuel efficiency and safety conditions, suggesting
actions to optimize fuel consumption and minimize carbon dioxide
emissions. It also warns users about identified risks related to weather
or sailing conditions. It is estimated that the application should contribute to an average of 5-8% reduction in fuel consumption. The
application is at the design stage.
My plans/expectations for the US market
In the US I wish to acquire funding for development and market
introduction of the OptProp application. In particular I’m looking
for investors interested in long-term cooperation. I plan to set-up
a business in SV, develop application off-shore and introduce it to
the North American market. The US market, being the biggest single
market of power-boat users, has the greatest potential for OptProp.
