- Chi Phi Xi Delta

Fall 2015
The Xi Delta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity presents…
The Parents Organization
Newsletter
A message from the president:
Greetings Family Members,
It is always a pleasure to address any family members
of our brothers. I ask that you please read this
newsletter, for it is an in-depth look at the inner
workings of the important aspects of our fraternity.
By joining a fraternity, our brothers have the unique
opportunity to have a home away from home and
become a part of a brotherhood that allows for many
growth opportunities that cannot be found in any
other college organization.
The benefits of affiliating with a fraternity range from
traveling to leadership conferences all over the
country, learning safe risk management practices,
learning how to maintain a home, teaching themselves
fiscal responsibility, networking with a vibrant alumni
base, and developing bonds that will last a lifetime.
Please enjoy our parent club organization newsletter.
Sincerely,
Burgess Kalyaniwalla

Awards and Recognition
National
Applying for any awards is both a healthy evaluation of
chapter officers and of the true status of the chapter.
Striving for excellence is something Xi Delta has always
done, and this semester, excellence was undoubtedly
achieved. Over the summer, our Alpha and Beta
travelled to the 150th Chi Phi Congress in San Francisco
which saw our efforts recognized on a national stage
when we swept four awards! The awards received show
just how much time and effort our brothers commit to
the pursuit of excellence. The awards received were:
Best New Member Program, Best Alumni Newsletter,
Best Web Presence and the Dr. Thomas Ghering for Best
Chapter.
Local
As the award process at Florida Tech is in
the spring, we were unable to apply for
any local recognition. However, the fall
semester does posess Homecoming. This
year the brothers at Xi Delta decided to
team up with the Zeta Theta chapter of
the Alpha Phi sorority. After months of
preparation, brother Savage-Foote and
Mavi Elena were crowned homecoming
King and Queen! With fantastic support
in every event from both organizations,
placing 1st in the lip synch contest and
float made for a memorable week of fun
and events whilst raising money for
United Way in the process.

Philanthropy
With the great success that Kicking for Kids in spring brings, we decided that we wanted to
throw a big philanthropy event in the fall as well. Over the summer a group of brothers came
up with the idea of a “Carnival.” The idea consisted of an all-inclusive event where quests would
pay one entry fee which would receive the following; taco in a bag, soda/water, popcorn, snow
cone, and unlimited games/inflatables. Again teaming up with Alpha Phi, we put on a very
successful event raising over $1000 for the SPCA of Brevard (the local animal shelter supported
by Chi Phi) and the Alpha Phi Foundation (a women’s heart health charity supported by Alpha
Phi).

Alumni Involvement
One thing that we at Xi Delta have always been proud of is the alumni involvement. The
brothers that have passed through our rustic log cabin before us definitely took to heart
the saying “not just for four years, but for life.” Luckily for us, they come back with a wealth
of knowledge that we are able to harness and use to our advantage. There help and
support comes in all shapes and sizes, the list for the fall semester included the following:
alumni sponsored and organized house work days (local alumni come to the house to
support brothers make improvements and build projects at the house), to the semesterly
last supper (during finals week the Xi Delta Alumni Association pay for and cook a warm
and delicious meal for all the brothers), resume building workshops (experienced alumni
gave brothers a free workshop and resume review to make sure they were career fair
ready), real life 101 workshops (alumni gave a seminar in real life lessons that the
classroom leaves out, mortgages, credit history, pensions etc), sponsoring our fall
philanthropy event (we were able to donate all proceeds to charity after XDAA covered
the costs of inflatables).
Top: XDHC president and alumni Ismael Cremer gives a hurricane safety seminar.
Bottom Left to Right: Brothers enjoy the last supper cooked and paid for by our alumni, actives
and alumni take over Thai Temple on Sundays for lunch together!
Mr. Pickles
This semester, the brothers of Xi Delta decided it was time to go back to traditional
ways of having a chapter dog. We introduce you to Mr. Pickles. Unanimously winning
the vote to become the chapter dog, Mr.Pickles is never far from the action at the house
now. An energetic puppy who will play chase until you are exhausted from throwing,
he is now who guests first look for when coming onto property. Under the watchful eye
of Br. Silveira, the dog chair, Mr. Pickles has excelled through beginner and
intermediate puppy training before the semester was over!
Chi Phi Manor
From the brothers of the Xi Delta Chapter of the Chi Phi
Fraternity, we wish you and your loved ones a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year!
