LUCIA Cytogenetics Systems for Karyotyping and Molecular Cytogenetics LUCIA KARYO Karyotyping system LUCIA KARYO is a specialized product for automated karyotyping. In addition to offering the basic functions, it also offers: grabbing of widespread mitoses, a special band contrasting procedure, and an automated chromosome classifier. These are just a few examples of the power LUCIA has in karyotyping. The LUCIA KARYO system provides many great features: • Structured database for archived storage of patient data and images. • Integrated flexible reporting tool. • Analysis of arbitrary animal or plant species. • Karyogram templates, ideograms, report templates and sample database. • Provides a standard for working with all LUCIA Cytogenetics products. The LUCIA karyotyping system provides an easy-to-use tool for chromosome comparisons using an image database. Up to three types of chromosomes can be compared with an unlimited number of source images. An image of a metaphase (upper picture). LUCIA FISH Fluorescence in situ hybridization system LUCIA FISH offers a uniquely designed workstation used for fluorescence microscopy in general. Its extraordinary flexibility allows capture and processing images of extremely variable intensities. A high sensitivity long time exposure monochrome camera provides superb image quality and minimal signal fading. A camera exposure control enables efficient capturing, that can be enhanced by motorized microscope usage. The user gets a multichannel image in just a few seconds. The number of labeling probes is now limited only by human abilities (the number of image channels are restricted to 16 for convenience). LUCIA FISH provides a variety of automated and manual image corrections including filtershift correction or color enhancement. The preprint transformation defines the different Pic 1. basic color for each channel for printing usage and offers the possibility to optimize quality of printouts. The LUCIA FISH system defines a way to work with multicolor fluorescence images for all LUCIA Cytogenetics systems and shares the database and reporting tools with other members of the LUCIA Cytogenetics family. Pic 2. Pic 3. LUCIA CGH is an application able to detect and map the relative number of copies of the DNA sequence using a method called Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH). Image analysis and mathematical statistics are used to determine the loss or amplification of DNA sequences. The module for color karyotyping and graphic presentation of DNA profiles is an integral part of the system. One image plane corresponds to the control DNA, the second to the tested DNA, and the third, usually the blue, represents the counterstaining with DAPI. LUCIA CGH provides full karyotyping functionality combined with fluorescence imaging features. The images can be observed in various display modes in each step of karyotyping procedure. Also enabled is the evaluation of the individual CGH profile for each chromosome. The database tools simplify analysis to a few mouse-clicks. CGH analysis results are displayed in the form of graphs with a variety of customizations (scales, thresholds, confidence intervals etc.) Pic. 1 and 2: Co-hybridisation of the marked control and studied DNA in normal metaphase chromosomes. LUCIA MFISH is the fluorescence imaging system extending the features of KARYO and FISH systems. It enables the full variety of the karyotyping features in the multi-color fluorescence environment. In addition, it provides the color classifier suitable for analysis of standard multi-color FISH images. The color classifier needs only a priory information in the form of the labeling scheme and is suitable for all combinatorial labeling schemes. LUCIA MFISH offers all common features of LUCIA Cytogenetics system such as database, report tools, etc. Pic. 1: Specimen of two years old girl with diagnosis of AML (acute myeloid leukemia), bone marrow material.
