What makes Catalyst SM different?
• U
nlike other plans, Catalyst covers healthrelated costs as part of a “pre-deductible”
benefit. That means the costs don’t trigger the
employee-paid deductible.

medical expenses annually. This means many of
our members’ health care needs will be met when
they use their pre-deductible benefit.

ith Catalyst, employees and their families can
take care of many of their annual health
issues, such as routine office visits, or
emergency health issues, without having to pay
the full cost for each service. This helps promote
healthy behavior.
• T
he member pays a copayment or coinsurance
at the time care is received. UnitedHealthcare
will pay remaining provider costs using the
pre-deductible allowance. The pre-deductible
benefit will continue until all allowance dollars
have been spent.
• T
his pre-deductible benefit covers initial
medical services – typically up to $1,000
a year per person1 – at either copayment or
coinsurance benefit level. Our research shows
