President’s Report
Cricket is a game where success relies on team performance, great partnerships and a few individual
efforts. As a Club we enjoyed the fruits of a great team effort and I thank all of the Committee, players
and supporters for their contribution to our Club for the 2014/15 season.
The season saw us welcome the Lionesses. The girls embraced the Club and provided a great contribution
at all levels. For a strong sustainable Club in the longer term, the girls form a vital part of our future plans
and we look forward to continued success for our ladies teams. The girls had a high level of representation
at state level and they started their trophy collection as the T20 champions for the 2014/15 season.
Our juniors worked hard to achieve success in the current year and there were many outstanding
performances. The Cubs are the future of our club and by the talent emerging through, we are in safe
hands. Many of our boys were selected in WACA squads and in junior state teams and we were very
unlucky not to add to our junior premiership trophy cabinet in the current season. Thanks to all involved
and a special mention to Ruth McKenzie for her enormous effort.
Our coaching staff provided our players with guidance and support and worked hard to optimise each
players and teams performance. Noel Knight, Ken Lilly, Kim Hughes and John Stoykovski, the Club thanks
you for your great contribution and to our brilliant net captain Frank Collins, well done on keeping the
lads well organised during the season.
The financial management of the Club has been in the safe hands of Jane O’Brien and with the match day
facilities controlled by Keith Blake, the players have enjoyed the best facilities in Perth and I thank both
of them for their enormous contribution.
We have continued to enjoy great wickets and Scott and Bruce McLean worked tirelessly to accommodate
all of the needs of the Club and we thank them for their professionalism and consistency of performance
throughout the year.
Our skippers worked hard to achieve success for the Club and to develop our talent. It is often a thankless
task and tests your character and friendships. Well done to Chris, Emmerson, Brenton, Gianni, Emma and
Lizzy. The privilege and memories of leading your teams will remain with you for the rest of your lives.
After 20 years of contribution to the Club, it was a great privilege to honour Phil Thomson with a life
membership at SFCC. Phil is an avid follower of the game and has been willing to help out at all levels of
the Club and this was due recognition for a sustained contribution.
SFCC also paid tribute at the passing of Dave Phillips Snr and Jim Rule who were both life members and
great contributors to our club. RIP boys and Subi lads forever.
We now look forward to the 2015/16 season with strength and performance in our lower grades, a
renewed hunger for success in our first XI and our Second XI now knowing what they need to do to move
from runners up to champions.
See you at preseason and thanks to all that make SFCC a great Club to be a part of.

Coach’s Report
The 2014/15 WADCCI cricket season from a 1st Grade perspective was an extremely disappointing one
with the 1’s finishing twelfth. The team never really developed any momentum and found wins hard to
come by with their batting letting them down on numerous occasions. Although, when considering the
Club’s performance across all grades there was considerable improvement with Grade 2 finishing fourth
and ultimately losing the Grand Final, 3’s eleventh and 4’s just missing finals action finishing seventh. Our
Twenty/20 campaign was a disappointing one, winning one of our three fixtures while the Colts also
struggled, winning only one of their five qualifying fixtures and with a similar return last season, that result
is a cause for concern going forward. As a result the Club finished twelfth in the WADCCI Club
Championship, a long way away from our goal of finishing in the top four. A couple of positives to come
from the season was the improved competitiveness of the 3rd and 4th Grades, a marked improvement
on last season and the “blooding” of three of the Club’s outstanding juniors in Josh May, Hamish McKenzie
and Cameron Green at 2nd Grade level who all acquitted themselves very well. Well done to the Woman’s
Division who won the Twenty/20 Premiership.
The Club was again fortunate to acquire the services of Kim Hughes as Batting Coach and Ken Lilly as
Bowling Coach and their respective contributions were significant, particularly during the pre-season
when batting and bowling techniques were more closely assessed and individual skills enhanced. John
Stoykovski continued with his role as the Club’s Fitness Co-ordinator and did a magnificent job in further
educating and preparing the players for the demands of the cricket season. As a group we have again
been recognized by the WACA as being the fittest Club in the competition and full credit must go to John.
Pre-season commenced late July with training conducted two nights plus Sunday mornings each week
through to the commencement of the season in early October. Pre-season training, in fact the entire
season was again well attended, averaging 33 players per training session throughout the entire season,
although a little down on last year’s average. As is “par for the course” we just had the minimum number
of players on our playing list throughout the season and at times were required to include juniors or the
odd past player to make up the numbers. As a result 71 players represented the Club at senior level which
makes the 4th Grade performance this season even more creditable. The quality of our playing depth was
dealt a blow at the commencement of the season when one of our two overseas players who had
committed to the Club in the off season decided not to return to the Club and the other returning home
after just one fixture.
When analysing the season’s statistics it would be fair to say that batting was an issue right through the
Club with batsmen failing to bat for long periods and this had a major impact on our ability to win games
across all grades. The 1st Grade had three players average between 30 and 35, one player in the 2nd
Grade averaged in excess of 30 while there were better performances from batsmen in the 3rd and 4th
Grades. Our bowling across all grades proved to be steady with Tom Moscarda again having an
outstanding season taking 48 wickets. Some of the other better performed bowlers were Chris Hansberry,
Declan Evans, Ash Blake, Glenn Stockden and Aaron Lilly. Fielding, while improving still has a way to go
and I would hope that all players would set a goal for next year to improve this facet of their game. Quality
fielding has a massive impact on the outcome of most fixtures.
It would be remiss of me not to mention the efforts of the Second Grade team in the Grand Final. Whilst
they probably let themselves down with a poor last hour on day one which ultimately cost them the
match, their fight, spirit and never give up attitude on day two gave themselves a slim chance of winning

38th Annual Report

the match. Unfortunately they fell just short but it was an outstanding effort and one which earned them
a great deal of respect from all who witnessed the performance.
Although plagued by injuries, it was pleasing to see both Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile have
seasons which saw them both play significant roles in the WACA Warriors winning the Matador BBQ One
Day and the Big Bash Titles. Jason being awarded the Australian Domestic Player of the Season was a
wonderful achievement. I’m sure once fully fit again both Jason and Nathan will be in the forefront of the
Australian selectors’ minds and have the opportunity to represent Australia.
The Club can only perform as well on the field if it performs off the field and the Committee lead by Glynn
O’Brien has again done a terrific job of ensuring the players were well resourced with up to date
equipment, well-credentialed coaching staff and professional fitness personnel. Thanks to the new
curator combination of Bruce and Scottie McLean who provided the players with excellent training and
playing wickets. The wicket they produced for the Second Grade Grand Final was the best wicket I had
seen at Floreat Oval for several seasons. These Club facilities are the best outside of the WACA and I hope
the players acknowledge just how fortunate they are.
Special thanks to Graeme Allen for his role as Chairman of Selectors, Graeme was again a great sounding
board for me and the Grade Captains at the selection table. Also to Frank Collins for his role as Net
Captain, certainly all personnel involved in the training process appreciated Frank’s involvement with the
nets running like clockwork and all players given equal opportunity to work on developing their skills.
To Kim Hughes and Ken Lilly, thank you for your input, I’m sure every player that had the opportunity to
work with either of you gained a valuable insight into the techniques required to succeed at this great
game of cricket. To John Stoykovski, thank you for your commitment to ensuring that SFCC players were
the best prepared from a strength and conditioning perspective.
To the respective Grade Captains, Chris Hansberry, Emmerson Walker/Josh Parker, Brenton Cook and
Gianni DiRosso, I thank you for your support and leadership both on and off the field. To all the players
who represented the Club this season, I thank you for your efforts and commitment and trust you will be
back for the 2015/16 season refreshed and striving to make significant improvements in the various facets
of your game. I wish the Club all the best for next season, I’ll be keeping a watchful eye on results and I
would hope Subiaco Floreat District Cricket Club can maintain its high standing within the WADCCI
competition.

1st Grade Report
After winning the one day competition the previous season and playing in the two day competition semifinal we entered the season with high expectations. What eventuated was well below our expectations
and the standards we pride ourselves on. If I had to sum up our performance in two words I would
describe our season as bitterly disappointing.
Outstanding individual performances were few and far between. Of the bowlers and despite several four
wicket hauls only Ash Blake was able to take a five wicket haul returning the figures of 5-76 off 29 overs
which included 11 maidens against Willetton Cricket Club.
It was a very similar story in regards to the batsmen, only two individuals were able to pass triple figures
and only one batsman, Calum How, was able to achieve the feat twice. Calum scored 104* against
Wanneroo Cricket Club and a spectacular as well as match winning 132 against Scarborough Cricket Club.
I would like to thank the committee for their ongoing support and hard work behind the scenes, Keith
Blake who worked tirelessly over the course of the season, our head coach Noel Knight who continually
offered guidance and advice and our specialist coaches Ken Lilly and Kim Hughes.
Finally I would like to thank the players for their continued efforts throughout what was an extremely
challenging season for all involved.

2nd Grade Report
Although the second grade side fell short at the final hurdle, the 2014/2015 season can nevertheless be
considered a success for the team. Overall, 25 individuals played second grade including debutants Josh
May, Ben Monro, Cameron Green, Hamish McKenzie, Declan Evans, Jonathan Dean, Ian Herold and
Matthew Dower.
The season started well against University, with the side prevailing in the final over. The 16-year-old May
was impressive with a classy 43* on debut, which included a reverse sweep to get off the mark. His innings
was exactly what the side needed at the time and belied his age.
The next two weeks saw the team suffer a heavy defeat at the hands Claremont-Nedlands in round 2,
while a wash out ruined the round 3 clash against Fremantle.
The round 4 meeting with Wanneroo shaped as an important game given our ordinary start to the year
and the fact that Wanneroo would likely be vying for a spot in the six come March. Andrew Holder (4/21
off 9.5) and Jason Hart (3/22 off 8) were exceptional in restricting the Roos to 152. Ben Hansberry (63)
played an anchor role in helping the side to its second final-over victory of the year. May’s poise was again
impressive late in the innings.
A loss at Lilac Hill in round five had the side sitting in the bottom half of the table a third of the way
through the season. The round six clash against South Perth was the beginning of a run of nine games of
which the team won seven (including two outright).
Despite setting a moderate total in the South Perth game, an inspired final hour on the first Saturday
ensured that the Lions got their season back on track. Only two bowlers were used in dismissing the Sky
Blues for 49. Hart took 6/28 (13) and Tom Moscarda 4/19 (13).
The round 7 clash against traditional rivals Scarborough was possibly the side’s best win of the season
and served as the catalyst for the team’s run to the finals. After rolling the Gulls for 88 (Aaron Lilly 6/46),
the Lions were dismissed for 73. With plenty of overs left on the first day, the side set about achieving an
unlikely outright result after trailing on the first innings. Scarborough was out for 159 (Jimmy Sansalone
4/41, Lilly 3/68). This left the Lions 175 runs to win off 34 overs at a required rate of 5.15 per over.
Contributions from virtually all batsmen saw the team record a memorable victory with eight balls to
spare.
Losses either side of Christmas to Willetton and Joondalup were disappointing, however the team
responded with a spirited win over Mount Lawley in Round 11. Things were looking precarious with the
Hawks requiring just five runs to win off the last over with three wickets in hand. After Josh Parker went
for just two runs in the penultimate over, Moscarda (4/33 off 9.5) was charged with bowling the final set
of six. A wicket with his first ball was a great start, but singles off the next two balls meant that the Hawks
were in the box seat. Another wicket with his fourth ball had the Lions licking their lips. A wide with his
fifth delivery meant that Mount Lawley needed only one run off the last ball to force a tie, with one wicket
in hand. Moscarda went full and straight and took out off stump for an unforgettable one-run victory.
The Lions won their next three games relatively comfortably. Notable performances against Gosnells
came from Moscarda (8/41 and 11 wickets for the match, to go with 69 with the willow), Green (68),
while in the outright win over Rockingham-Mandurah, Perry Colyer (77) and Jacob Evans (56) did the
damage with the bat and Lilly was outstanding with the ball (6/34). Lilly followed this amazing form up a

week later with 6/29 and 53 in the round 14 win over Melville. A close loss to Perth in round 15 meant
that the side finished fourth on the ladder, and was to play Joondalup in the first week of the finals.
Heavy rain in the lead up to the game against Joondalup meant just over one day’s play was possible. This
proved insufficient for a result, even after the Lions declared their innings closed at 7/215 (Parker 65*).
Hart (4/20) and the other bowlers did all they could but were unable to force a result.
Other results in the first week of the finals meant that the Lions faced Willeton, the minor premiers, in a
semi-final. A blazing 56 from Colyer got the Lions off to a great start, but some good bowling from the
Dragons had them back on top with the Lions reeling at 6/131 after being 1/80. A composed Lilly
contributed 78*, while Hart and Parker also played handy roles. The team finished with a respectable
249. The Dragons were cruising at lunch on Sunday (2/101) and continued in a similar vein in the
afternoon session. At 3/121 and later 4/168, it was looking like an uphill battle for the Lions. Enter Drew
Watson (4/26) and Moscarda (2/40). In the space of around 35 minutes, the pair combined to take 6/16
on a relatively benign wicket. Willeton were all out for 184. The Lions were to face Joondalup in the grand
final which, through a fixturing quirk, happened to be at Floreat Oval.
Joondalup won the toss and batted first. The Centurions played with freedom and it paid off for them as
they posted a score of 252. Moscarda was again brilliant in taking 5/81, while Colyer (4/31) also bowled
well. The Lions had probably their worst batting performance for the year in being bundled out for 111.
However, despite this measly total, the side was not done yet. The team was dynamic in dismissing
Joondalup for 121 in their second innings. Moscarda was again the chief destroyer in taking 7/36 off 22
overs (making it 12 wickets for the match). This left the Lions with an improbable 263 to win off 25 overs.
Although falling short, the players put in a great effort in reaching 6/221 off 25 overs.
With the mixture of youth and experience in the squad, I am of the firm belief that this group of players
can go one better next year and win a flag. As well as consistent performances from young players such
as Watson and Parker, there were also glimpses of brilliance from likes of Green, May and McKenzie at
various stages. These showings indicate that there is a great group of young talent that will move into the
senior grades in the near future.
I would like to thank the Committee, club sponsors and all of the supporters that have contributed to the
Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club this season. Without these contributions the players would, quite simply, not
be able to play the game they love

3rd Grade Report
After a disappointing season last year we were looking to really develop the experience of the third grade
team and improve on the previous year’s result of finishing 15th.
I can say that we achieved our goal although at the half way mark of the season we were sitting towards
the bottom of the ladder with only 2 wins (19 points). A strong period over Christmas through to the end
of the season saw us finish 11th with 6 wins including an outright victory against a top 6 team (52 points).
We were in contention to make the finals if results had gone our way with a strong performance of
winning 5 from 7 games against teams higher than us on the ladder.
Overall, 29 players rotated through the third grade team at various stages, including 9 debutants; Steve
Glew, Hamish McKenzie, Ian Herold, Jack Cunningham, Brad Oates, Cameron Green, Sam Reed, Matthew
Blake and Clayton Bruce-Cherry.
Notable batting performances included centuries from Ben Monro (104*), myself (105) and a powerhouse
display from newcomer Ian Herold (128*). However only 11 individual scores above 50 highlights the
problem we had in consistently scoring runs.
Declan Evans had the best individual performance with the ball taking 5/39 on the first day against
Rockingham Mandurah before going up as a replacement players to the seconds and taking 5 more
wickets. Declan in addition with Nick Powe, John Stoykovski, Cam O’Brien, Angus McKenzie and myself
ensured the 3rds over the season had a consistent bowling attack.
In summary, our season had some good wins and some close losses. If a few results had gone the other
way the season may have been a different story as I believe we were the best team in the competition on
our day. It just seemed to be that on most occasions our bowlers did their job but needed support from
our batsmen. Once again all the playing group will be better for this year and gaining that extra experience
at senior level. I think the one thing I would like to leave with my team is that don’t be happy with just
playing. Have the will and the urge to win as finals and grand finals do not come around that often but
when they do there isn’t any better feeling.
Lastly I will be leaving Subiaco-Floreat to move to Melbourne for work. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time
at the club and will always remember my two seasons here. I would like to thank everyone involved at
the club for making me feel welcome. I would like to thank all the coaching staff; Noel Knight, Kim Hughes,
Ken Lilly and John Stoykovski for the hard work they put into the club. I would like to thank the committee
and all the people who do work behind the scenes especially Glyn and Jane O’Brien, Mr and Mrs
Sansalone, Jim Sansalone, Keith Blake, the curators, the scorers, the people who run the bar and look
after us every Saturday night and all the other captains, my apologies if I have forgotten anyone.
Thank you again for the support over the last two years and I wish the club all the success for the future
as Subi-Floreat will always be a part of me.

4th Grade Report
Played 15 Won 8 Draw 1 Lost 6 Position 7th Quotient 1.1480
The 2014/15 season for the 4th grade saw 33 players represent the club. There were 14 players who played
6 or more games for the season and were the nucleus of the side. The 4’s improved dramatically from the
2013/14 season when we finished 15th to finish 7th at the end of 2014/15. We were sitting in 4th position
with 2 games to play and lost our last 2 games to slip out of the 6 at seasons end. This was disappointing
considering we worked hard as a side both at training and on match days.
The top 6 scored most of the runs with wicket keeper opening batsman Ben Hotchkin, who has a bright
future averaged 31 with the bat, took 13 catches and 3 stumping’s. Mitchell Carey stepped up to open
this year and impressed as an opener putting value on his wicket and scoring his first senior 50 when he
belted 72 v Mt. Lawley. Mitch and Ben set us up in many games putting on 50 or more. Matthew (Tracer)
Thomson was instrumental in the 4’s climb up the ladder in 2014/15 playing as a bat at number 4 whilst
recovering from shoulder surgery. He averaged 43 and scored his runs with ease mostly with 4’s and 6’s.
The highlight of his season was a blistering 129 no v Gosnells 13-4’s and 4-6’s. Simon Joyce Jnr batting at
5 had a consistent year making 3- 50’s and averaged 28. His fluent stroke play particularly through midwicket was a joy to watch. He was instrumental in helping the side win 5 games and had 2 century
partnerships: 146 v Gosnells with Thommo and 126 v Willeton with Dos. Gianni Di Rosso also improved
from last season and averaged 25 with the bat and 11 with the ball taking 23 wickets in the last 9 games.
He also took his first 5 wicket haul for SFCC v Willeton 6/39 and made 66 with the bat in the same game.
Angus McKenzie showed he has a big heart with the bat and averaged 21 in 7 innings with 3 not outs and
batted with the tail and showed maturity in doing so.
The bowling and fielding from the 4’s this year was exceptional and only 3 sides scored more than 200
runs against us in 15 games. In the first 6 games Declan Evans and Jonathon Dean took 24 wickets between
them with Evo taking 5/44 off 22 overs v South Perth in a match winning performance. Jono helped
destroy Scarborough for 58 taking 4/26 off 16 overs. Evo and Jono then advanced to higher grades and
they both played 2nd grade by the end of the season which rewarded both their hard work pre-season.
The spin twins Liam Gallagher and Angus McKenzie both are a class above 4 th grade and were brought
back into the 4’s from the 3’s to help us push for a finals berth. LG took 5/52 off 20 overs v Gosnells and
took 18 wickets at 12 in the 4’s. Gus only took 7 wickets because the batsmen couldn’t pick him and he
continually beat the bat which was frustrating to say the least. Let’s hope these lads will be given the
opportunity to bowl more overs in the higher grades next season. Raman Singh 17 wickets at 21 and Kim
O’Brien 10 wickets at 17 bowled consistent line and length and were solid contributors every week. Jazz
had a cousins wedding in India and missed the last 3 games. I still wonder if his absence cost us a finals
berth. With Jazz in India, Ben Massey returned from England and stepped up to open the bowling taking
9 wickets at 14. This young man has the world at his feet as a bowler and I believe he will play higher
grades in the future if he can stay injury free.
The end of the season saw the 4th grade defeat all the teams below them except Claremont/Nedlands
and Fremantle (Draw), and losses to all teams above them except South Perth. Crucial losses in our last 2
games hopefully will teach the players that to play finals cricket you must continue to win and gain
momentum at the business end of the season. Significant improvements were made in our batting,
bowling and fielding this season. Mental toughness was lacking in our losses to the sides above us, not
ability.

Colts Report
The colts entered the year optimistic for the year ahead. However injury and some sub par performances
led to a disappointing campaign, finishing 5th, winning just one game. The year could best be described as
a development year, with some of the clubs most promising youngsters making the debuts including; Josh
May, Hamish McKenzie, Cam Green and Sam Reed. It also gave Ash Blake an opportunity to captain his
first game for the club.
There was also one outstanding individual performance, with Jake Evans making the first colts hundred
since AJ Murphy in 2010. It was a terrific innings, leading the team to an impressive total of 314. There
were only two others to pass the 50 mark, with Josh May scoring an important 50 vs MGCC and Drew
Watson making 54 vs MCC.
This year signals the end of many great colts contributors such as Ash Blake, Cam O’Brien, Ben Reed and
myself. I would like to thank them for their contributions over the years and for making my job as captain
easier. I would also like to thank the committee and coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to lead
the colt’s side over the past few years. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I hope I have done
the club proud.
I wish the colt’s all the best in the future and hope they are able to rediscover the ruthlessness and success
of previous cub sides.

Under 17’s Report
Season 2014/2015 was the "usual" mixture of a slow start, lack of application by our batsmen, player
unavailability & some good cricket!
Our batsmen generally struggled early with the slower wickets, showing a lack of application & willingness
to grind it out in the middle. The exceptions were a polished 76 from Jack Retallack against Centurions in
the opening game, followed by a hard working knock of 62 from Cam Green against Claremont. A 44 last
wicket partnership from Jayden Leach & Dan Thompson against Midland Guildford showed our top order
what occupation of the crease can result in.
We cracked our first win in a one day game against Scarborough with a last over victory being a great
result for the boys. This was followed by another improved effort in the game before Christmas, and a
fantastic win against a strong Joondalup side.
Another win against Gosnells was highlighted by a fantastic innings from Clayton Bruce-Cherry, 103 off
84 balls with not a false shot amongst it. A great team effort saw a win against Rockingham Mandurah,
before two losses in the final two one day games.
All the batsmen showed glimpses of their potential, better appreciation of valuing their wicket & spending
time in the middle can only help their progress.
Our bowling unit was solid throughout the season. We had no one of any real pace, but our seamers
generally bowled a consistent line & length. Special mention to our spinners who on the whole performed
extremely well. The steadiness & consistency of our attack was reflected in the end of season aggregates,
where the boys were grouped very closely together. Our fielding was a little up & down at times, whilst
our keepers all performed very soundly.
Many thanks to Ash Blake for his help as assistant coach, it is a wonderful asset to have a first grade player
who is only a few years older than boys, on hand to pass on his experience & knowledge.
Special thanks as usual to Ruth McKenzie for her tireless efforts, and to the SFCC committee on a whole.
Thanks also to my two team managers, Rachel & Helen, along with the parents who helped throughout
the season.
Also my appreciation to the curators, Bruce & Scotty. They had a pretty big workload but continued to
produce great practice wickets & centre wickets at Alderbury.
All in all it was an absolute pleasure to coach the boys, the team spirit was good & I personally really
enjoyed the season. I wish the second year players all the best for their foray into senior cricket wherever
that may be, and look forward to next season already.

We had a very successful 2014-15 making the finals but falling at the first hurdle
We had only lost one game by the time our boys started their year 10 schooling and as has happened in
past seasons we lose our best to the PSA. This of course allows others to have an opportunity and we
even blooded a few under 13s in one game. The group of parents were outstanding and always organized
thanks to Jane Collins –and all contributed in their own way –the scorers scored and the ones who couldn’t
did everything else
Batting –our top order of Jamie Collins (century v Gosnells ) Rylie Morgan (century v Midland Guildford
96 v Mt Lawley) Hamish McKenzie (century v Joondalup ) and Kiran Prashanth (70 v Centurions in our
final) batted so well that many others in the team were left frustrated by lack of opportunities. Josh DayPerkins and Zac Binning featured in a few partnerships and will look forward to next year.
Bowling –the opening partnership of Campbell Dawson and Will Bartley took 35 wickets between them
and their economy rate was such that the 30 over games we played were over as a contest after 10 overs
– they bowled at good pace and there were few batsmen comfortable against the new ball. Jack
Monaghan broke an opponent’s toe this year and also bowled well. Ed Liang improved every game and
with Joel Krauss managed to get the ball swinging – we just need a few slippers to catch them. Connor
O’Keeffe took a 6 for against south Perth in only 12 overs of controlled leg spin and there was the
wicketkeeper Matt Swain who somehow got a bowl in the last game and thanks to some outstanding
outfield catching took 5 wickets in a 3 over spell of what he called spin bowling. Jason Goodson took a
few wickets kept wicket and was our best fielder. Ranoul Ratnawishbushana was our back up from the
under 14s and has improved every week and no one enjoys hitting the stumps more. Connor Gent also
stepped up and always took handy wickets when given the chance. Our death bowler was Shaun Tatlow
who cleaned up a few tails and improved his batting as well
Fielding –this has been the best fielding team I have coached at SF and at times their attack and aggression
was outstanding – they didn’t like being beaten. The catching was also excellent most of the time apart
from a few slips catches going down but the post tea session which is traditionally a difficult time was
never an issue – I suspect the boys fitness played a part – all are involved in winter sport that seems to
encroach on the cricket season so they don’t resemble those of us from another era! The boys got on very
well and the vibe in the team was never negative or defeatist – the best fun I have had coaching so far
and I hope they continue to enjoy all their sport and continue as they get older – and wish them all good
luck next season in the 17s and I will miss them all .

Kiran Prashanth - Hard hitting number 3 with fantastic talent. Should progress for higher honours in 15s
season. Good mind for captaincy and gives his all at the crease. A great example to his batting team mates.
Played the season in 15s as well with great success there with the bat, forming several large partnerships
in the upper order.
Harry Imison - wonderful season of opening bowling with constant high performance line, length and
pace due to his excellent technique. Wonderful positive leadership attitude captaining the side in a way
the team responded to very well when he had the opportunity. Can bat when his confidence is up.
Connor Gen t- again, hardest job in the team being the coach’s son. Played as a genuine all-rounder this
season. Started as second change bowler and performed well enough with improved pace and accuracy
to open the bowling in some games. Batted with good application with high score against Mt Lawley on
difficult track. Rewarded with 15s selection and finals appearance for them, grabbing a couple of wickets
in the match.
Nicholas Kane - Excellent hard hitting opener/upper order bat. Confidence grew during season in a team
he is playing up a year in. Kept well, sharing with Jaxon. Looking forward to further development and
some entertaining high scores next year.
Kade Lines - Great all round performance from Kade. Never gives in. Bowled best batsman in comp in first
game and later in season got an edge from second best in a 15s final. Ran his heart out in the field and
was constantly found lapping his batting partners in efforts for more runs. Great to have in the team.
Robert Powel l- Bowled well when he had the opportunity. Remains with good outswing and line and
length. Looking forward to bounce and pace with growth and development. Will have more opportunity
in 15s.
Ranoul Ratnawibhushana - Fast bowler with fearsome pace when he gets his rhythm. Workhorse who will
pound in with the wind all day if asked. Some great spells and valuable wickets. Great energy and effort
in the field. Can bat doggedly in lower order when head stays still! Was at every 14s and 15s training with
enthusiasm. Rewarded with 15s games. Unlucky not to have more wickets, constantly creating chances.
Will get lots of work in 15s
Dan Smith - Little guy with a lot of spin. When landed they explode and often too good for opposition to
get bat on. Deserved more wickets and looking forward to some good times in 15s. Batted with
determination and held up an end to help team on several occasions.
Mitchell Repsevicius - Great year for Mitch developing more confidence in later season and showed some
great courage and application. Bowled some really useful spells as leg spinner and should work hard on
this for more reward next year.
Jaxon Geddes - Brilliant application to his game and to the team. Best fielder in the team whether with or
without the keeping gloves on. Great eye, great arm. Bowls with good line and length but keeping kept
him out of attack this season. Bats with enthusiasm and looking for some scores in 15s.

Adam Buckingham - burst into the bowling attack against Scarborough being on a hat trick soon after
coming on. Showed excellent line and length and will be menacing batsmen for LBW chances next season.
Bats with good style, looking forward to some scores in 15s next year. Excellent fielder.
Tim Massey - new to district cricket this year. Some good outswing when in the attack. Sadly for Tim he
struggled with injury all season.
Lachlan Cain - can do everything when wants to. Hard hitting opening batsman, hard hitting middle order
batsman, very handy with the keeper’s gloves and can stop most things coming at slip or at short cover.
Has decided to move to Claremont Nedlands next year and we wish him all the best.
Lachlan Davis - Batted fearlessly at times and defended dourly with great character. Great energy and
great team man in the field. Has decided to curtail cricket career and concentrate on athletics next year.
Edmund Hall - Bowled with great pace and accuracy to really keep pressure on opening bats. Not always
rewarded with wickets but vital member of bowling team. Broke through into lower middle order with
some entertaining hard hitting. Sadly lost to a professional golf career next season
2014/15 was a season of lost opportunity but valuable cricket lessons. We put ourselves in positions to
win 6 out of 7 games but only won two. Focus next season will be on sealing the deal and getting the
reward for the great effort this fine group of young players puts in each week. The squad will thrive on
weekly games next year and stronger physical development. Our theme has been “Subi pressure” and we
will be looking at a constant supply of this on the opposition next year by improving skills, fitness and
application. This is a great group that will succeed and enjoy their cricket at Subi next year and into the
future.
Sadly, we have lost a few teammates but this has opened up spots for some new talent and we look
forward to welcoming the new boys into the team at pre-season training
I was very honoured and proud to coach the 14s in the 2014/15 season with Paul Smith and look forward
to seeing the boys develop their cricket as they grow mentally and physically within this great club!

Under 13’s Report (Inverarity Shield)
The season could be seen as a frustrating missed opportunity but the player group have really developed
and learned a great deal from an exciting campaign.
With a record of Won 4 and Lost 3 the season was clearly far from a bad one but all of the boys know that
they came so close to glory. There were 4 excellent victories and the 3 defeats came to the teams that
finished above SFCC on the final ladder and each of those sides lost heavily at some stage during the
season. SFCC was defeated by an agonisingly narrow margin each time and the final game saw us fall 5
runs short of making the finals after a stuttering performance with the bat. The two Grand Finalists,
Midland-Guildford and Scarborough, were pushed to the limit to somehow win against us and with just a
few more runs in each game success would have been secured for the Lions. Whatever the outcome of
the season however, this group of players includes some excellent talent and should provide the club with
good players for many years to come.
The major strength of the team was in the bowling department, at times the strong attack strangled the
opposition into only achieving small totals, helped by good fielding all round. The regular opening attack
of the metronomic Jayson Spencer and firebrand Mitch Georgiades always combined well together, with
Jayson topping the bowling averages thanks to his accuracy and ability to swing the ball. The second
highest wicket taker was Matthew Sculthorpe who bowled quickly and often under pressure as he
regularly rose to the challenge of bowling at first change and then at the end of the innings. Several other
players contributed with tight bowling, namely Jacob van der Meulen, Tom Murray, Griff Binning and
Francois Helberg to make it a strong seam attack in every match. The spin department also performed
well with Tom Love, Angus Urquhart and Fraser Jaffray always doing a good job, but it was Will Cornish’s
legspin that mesmerised the opposition………..all in all an attack to be very proud of.
Batting is where there might have been more success but the season did come with some great highs and
individual performances. Ethan Chivers was the most consistent batsman and highest run scorer, all
combined with excellent work behind the stumps. Cambell Geddes, another stylish left hander, also
batted well and opened in every game to amass good scores and showed what a talented player he is.
There were also good contributions from Jacob van der Meulen, Matthew Sculthorpe, Tom Murray,
Charlie Hurst and Harry Gilchrist, the latter combined with his sound ‘keeping.
All of the players improved as the season progressed and but for injuries to Joey Betts and others there
might have been even more success. The parents were incredibly supportive and helpful, the teas as
inspiring as ever and a special mention goes to Carl Binning and Jono Hurst for their tireless coaching
assistance and Nicky Sculthorpe for all her hard work as Team Manager.
The theme for the season should not be “what might have been”, with this talented group of players
there is “so much more to come”. Thanks for the privilege of working with this group to develop their
cricket and being able to contribute to the future of Subiaco-Floreat CC.

What an incredible first season for the Lionesses at the club! It has been a huge year for the Subi girls on
and off the field, migrating our way down the road to the mighty SFCC and winning our first piece of
silverware in yellow. The move had been in consideration for many years, involving a well-prepared
process conducted by the SFCC Committee and our Leadership Group. Although we thoroughly enjoyed
our time at Subiaco-Marist and will always honour our long and successful history there, we felt the time
was right to join a high performance district club to further our development. The affiliation was the first
step in hopefully building our Female side into a dominant powerhouse for years to come. The Subi girls
have always represented a strong team on paper, however our recent records books may not support
this statement. It is our aim to make our mark on the competition under the Subiaco-Floreat name and I
believe we made great head ways with this goal this season. The whole club has been unbelievably
welcoming to the female side and we can’t thank everyone enough for your continued support
throughout the year. We only hope we can return the generosity and encouragement back to club, as we
now consider ourselves a part of the great SFCC. Our Female 1st XI:

There were many highlights for the 14/15 season across both grades, perhaps the biggest was nominating
our B grade side for the 40 over competition for the first time in 3 years. It was an essential goal we
identified for the future of our female squad and having tried for several years to achieve this, it was
incredibly rewarding and exciting for the Lionesses. This goal was only achieved due to our amazing 16
new female players at the club! A massive number that we hope to continue growing for many more
years through our developing relationship with Wembley District Junior CC.
Although our B Grade side may not have had the greatest triumph results wise, the tremendous success
they had off the field speaks louder for our club. We had 10 new girls playing in this side throughout the
season, that’s a whole team of new faces! Although there were a lot of new girls learning the ropes, our
trusted regulars lead the way and helped the new girls find their feet. We had seven B grade Lionesses
step up and receive their baggy yellows in A Grade at different stages in the year, they included Lizzy
Alderson, Kelly Loranger, Sophie Fletcher, Catherine Clissold-Jones, Jess Whiteaker, Dani VandenBok
and Phoebe Vlahov. A fantastic effort by these girls and special mention to Clissold-Jones, Fletcher and
VandenBok who played in the winning A Grade T20 Premiership this season.
We were enormously privileged to have Charlotte Edwards, England Captain for 200+ Games play in the
baggy yellow! All the girls loved the rare opportunity to pick her cricket brains and play alongside arguably

the best female cricketer of all time. We were spoilt for internationals this year, as Priyanaz Chatterji also
joined us from Scotland as well as Dani Peart from England for most of the season.
SFCC saw Megan Banting, Beth Dawson, Bhavi Devchand, Heather Graham, Emma King and Gemma
Triscari represent WA for the Western Fury, as well as Shenae Reichelt, Meg Thompson and Phoebe
Vlahov who represented WA in the Under 18’s Championship. Special mention to Reichelt who also
debuted for the Western Fury this season, an exciting addition to the Subi line-up who we welcomed back
with open arms. On top of our State representation success, we had Banting and Graham selected in the
current Shooting Stars Squad. Banting has recently travelled to Dubai with the team and Triscari was
earlier selected for the Sri Lanka tour. An amazing achievement by these girls and we are tremendously
proud of all our Lionesses.
A Grade T20 Competition:
The A Grade girls had a rough start to our T20 campaign, however we began stringing some convincing
wins together to make a strong run home towards the final. The combination of different individual
performances with the bat and ball throughout the season held us in good stead for the GF, with many of
our girls in good form leading up to the important game. Stand out performances during the season were
Priyanaz Chatterji 4/13 off 4 Rd 4 vs. Midland-Guildford and Charlotte Edwards 58 (55) Rd 5 vs. Melville.
The Final vs. South Perth at the WACA saw Man of the Match Kate Burns 3/32 off 4 lead the way with the
ball, before Heather Graham 53 (43) and Bhavi Devchand 46 (42) stood up to chase the big total of 134
in a nail biting finish with 1 ball to spare. It was an enormous team effort from all squad members, as
there was a different SFCC outfit almost every week (due to injuries and state players away). The girls
rallied together, fought hard (even through the ankle curse) and in true Subi spirit defended our T20 Title
winning back-to-back Premierships. It was fantastic to see lots of support cheering on the girls in yellow
and definitely helped us bring home the first female silverware for SFCC!
A Grade 50 Over Competition:
With the first two games washed out and the first half of the season comprising mostly of T20s, the One
Day competition seemed to never exist for a while. Until we finally took the field at the end of November,
only to very quickly walk back off! With an unquestionably record-breaking team total of 29 runs, needless
to say not the start we were after in our creams! Fortunately, we rapidly bounced back running over
Midland-Guildford (72) only two wickets down the following week. Bhavi Devchand 30 (31) took control
with the bat and Emma King 4/10 off 5.2 finished with strong figures, although it was Kate Burns and
Heather Graham who claimed the key wickets to set up the impressive win. We struggled for numbers in
the middle of the season and evidently our results portrayed this. Memorable performances included
Graham 44 (46) in Rd 5 vs. Melville, Gemma Triscari 3/23 off 9.4 and Meg Thompson 27 (71) in Rd 6 vs.
South Perth. Making way for our greatest result in Rd 7 vs. Midland-Guildford, where Graham shined
beyond her years making the highest score for SFCC across all grades this season with 163* (130), King 91
(125) assisted to make the equal best 3rd wicket partnership at the club with 271. All bowlers chipped in
for the 194 run win, a very memorable match with an incredible display of clean hitting by HG. Graham
continued her purple patch of form into Rd 8, scoring 93 (102) to put us in a competitive position vs.
Melville. The One Day competition was unfortunately wrapped up on that day, however some
outstanding performances were still to come in the last round including Devchand 63 (133) and King 83
(84). We are left with the burning desire to go after the 50 Over Trophy next season, as it’s been far too
long since we’ve held it in our hands!

B Grade T20 Competition:
An interesting start to the season as we claimed out first points unfortunately through a forfeit from
Joondalup and Rd 2 resulting in split points due to a wash out. Rd 3 we finally played our first game and
what an exciting close match to kick us off! Captain of B Grade, Lizzy Alderson 41 (31) showed her years
of experience and lead from the front with Suz Bell 29 (21) who stared with the bat, Shenae Reichelt,
Annie Slattery and Sophie Fletcher claimed their first wickets for the club. Some different names shined
in Rd 4, with Phoebe Vlahov snaring her first wicket, Catherine Clissold-Jones 21 (39) top scoring and Jess
Whiteaker 12 (31) scoring her first runs for the club. Whiteaker 3/23 off 4 performed this time with the
ball in Rd 5, Reichelt 23 (22) and Fletcher 21 (42) started well, however Alderson 53 (39) again lead the
way and assisted with 2 stumpings as well. Rd 6 was one to only remember Dani VandenBok 8 (12) who
top scored and Fletcher 2/12 off 4. The final round saw Alderson 39 (45) step up once more to assist in a
close finish for the B’s T20 season.
40 Over Competition:
A repeat occurred with our Rd 1 points resulting in a forfeit from Midland-Guildford, however due to very
low numbers we had to forfeit ourselves in Rd 2 vs. Cockburn. Rd 3 seems to be the start of play for B
Grade, Lucy Curtin, Kelly Loranger (plus 2 classic catches) and Maria Janes collected their first wickets for
the club, Curtin 28 (55) also rose to the occasion in Lizzy’s absence with the bat. Suz Bell 17 (16) performed
in Rd 4, while Rd 6 involved Dani Peart being a Subi super hero, Dani Vandenbok taking her first wicket
and Bell 31 (16), Curtin 29 (39) and Lizzy Alderson 24 (27) getting the scoreboard rolling. Our final round
saw familiar faces shining through, Alderson 48* (59) and Catherine Clissold-Jones 2/8 off 4 brought the
girls home for the year.
There were incredible highs and lows throughout our season, although I believe the highs came out on
top. We have an amazing group of girls, who all show a love for our club the fighting Subi spirit. I know if
this group sticks together we will be a force to be reckoned with very soon. The improvement we’ve seen
in the girls this year has been extraordinary, to which we’d like to thank Callum How, Angele Gray and
Brett Whiteaker who came down at different parts of the season to assist with coaching. There were
many girls who came down to ‘give it a go’ this season, they’ve not only settled in perfectly, they have
brought a new spark which has lightened up the squad and brought us closer as a group. We will sorely
miss Suz Bell and Sarah Young (Boots) next season who have both been wonderful ambassadors for our
club for many years. We remain hopeful to snare them back every now and then when they return to
Perth.
Thank you again to all involved in the SFCC Lioness’s first season! A special mention to Glyn, Frank, Keith,
Tony and Jane who put in the extra hours to make sure our two new teams got on the park. Also to our
two biggest fans, Alan Bolton and John Williamson, their continued support means the world! The maroon
jacket lingering by the sightscreen and strong handshake/random photo respectively puts us at ease each
game. All the girls should be extremely proud of their performances this season, as we upheld our Subi
standards and wore the yellow with pride. We will strive for B Grades first silverware and let’s make it
three in a row for the A Grade T20 Title, but most importantly we will set our sights higher for the 50 Over
Title…it’s the big one that we want back where it belongs. Fight for the double Lionesses!!

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc)
Club History
The Subiaco Floreat Cricket Club was formed in 1977 when the Subiaco and Floreat Park clubs merged.
1900 to 1949
A cricket club in the Subiaco area was first formed in 1896 and played in the Senior Matting Association
based at the Shenton Park Lake ground. In 1907-08 the Subiaco Club was admitted to the WACA A
Grade competition but after two seasons were relegated to B Grade. During this time the Club moved to
the newly developed Mueller Park in Subiaco where at the western end (later Subiaco Oval) they shared
the playing fields with the Subiaco Football Club.
In the 1910-11 season, Subiaco combined with fellow B Grade team; Whittaker’s and was re-admitted
to A Grade as the Subiaco Cricket Club. The following season Subiaco merged with the neighbouring
Leederville club to form the Subiaco-Leederville Cricket Club and played under this name until 1930-31,
when they reverted to Subiaco Cricket Club.
By this time Mueller Parker had been renamed Subiaco Oval and from 1929-30 the Club enjoyed
sustained success winning six premierships in the 17 seasons until 1946-47. Many Subiaco players from
this era represented Western Australia, in the days before WA was admitted into the Sheffield Shield
competition. Future Prime Minister, R.J. Hawke, played for the Club in the post-war years.
1950 to 1977
The Subiaco Club did not enjoy team success during the 1950’s and 1960’s finishing runner-up twice and
making the finals one other time. The highlight for the Club from this era was Jack Rutherford being the
first Western Australian to be selected for Australia on a major tour and the first to be capped when he
was included in the Australian side which visited England, India, and Pakistan in 1956. Rutherford’s
single test was against India in Bombay.
In 1965-66 the Subiaco Club left Subiaco Oval and moved to Rosalie Park on the west side of Thomas
Street. Jim Hubble became the Club’s second Australian representative, touring South Africa in the
summer of 1966-67, playing in nine matches, but not in the Tests. During the 1960’s former England
player Tony Lock played for the Club.
The Floreat Park Cricket Club was formed in the post-war years. In the 1959-60 season, Floreat Park was
admitted into the WACA completion as a 2nd Grade club fielding teams in the lower grades only.
Talented Floreat Park juniors seeking to play 1st Grade invariably moved to the neighbouring Subiaco
Club. Notable Floreat Park juniors who made the move to Subiaco were Kim Hughes, Terry Alderman
and Sam Gannon who all played Tests for Australia.
The recruitment of former Australian player Des Hoare as Captain-Coach in the late 1960’s saw the
Subiaco Club play in the finals four times in seven years, winning Premierships in 1971-72 and 1973-74.
However while the Subiaco Club was competitive at 1st Grade level, a small district and declining junior
player numbers saw the Subiaco Club merge with the 2nd Grade Floreat Park Club. The Club was named
Subiaco Floreat Cricket Club and commenced playing in the 1977-78 season.
The last match played between the two clubs was the 1976-77 4th grade grand final where the Subiaco
4th’s captained by future President Larry Davies triumphed.
The amalgamation was a true merger with administrators and players from both Clubs sharing the roles.
The new Club’s headquarters was Floreat Oval, with Rosalie Park retained as the second ground (until
1981) along with Floreat’s Alderbury Street Reserve. Subiaco’s Lion emblem and gold and maroon
colours were combined with the royal blue of Floreat Park, but there was no room for the Floreat Park
grey.

1977 to 1999
WA Parliamentarian Ray Young was the inaugural President and Jim Hubble the inaugural Captain of
Subiaco Floreat and Terry Alderman returned to Floreat Oval but the first season did not bring instant
success. During the following three season the Club were runners-up twice and semi-finalists once, as
well as being Club Champions in 1978-79. All-rounder, Graeme Porter played for Australia in the 1979
World Cup.
1st grade success was finally achieved in the 1987-88 where a strong squad including Test players Terry
Alderman and Tom Hogan alongside present or future 1st class players Giles Bush, Todd Breman, Peter
Gonnella and Glenn Hughes won the first 1st grade flag for the amalgamated Club and the ninth overall.
In 1983-84 future cricket broadcaster Glenn Mitchell, captained the Colts undefeated for nine matches
to capture the Club’s first Colts Premiership.
The 1980’s decade was overall successful, in addition to the 1st grade and Colts, the Club also won a
2nd grade and a 3rd grade flag, while the 4ths won a hat-trick of flags under the wily leadership of club
stalwart Alan Bolton.
The 1990’s were fairly lean for the 1st grade with only three final appearances. However this decade saw
the debut of Bunbury junior, Murray Goodwin, who would go on to play Test cricket for his native
Zimbabwe. In 1990-91 all four senior sides qualified for the finals and the Club was once again Club
Champion. The lower grades continued to be successful in this decade, the 2nds and 4ths both won two
flags each as did the Colts. The 1997-98 Colts were captained by Steven Glew in his first of seven
Premierships for the Club.
2000 onwards
The 21st Century began with a bang. Under the inspiring leadership of fast bowler Gavin Swan, the
1st grade team won three successive premierships from 2000-01. The 1sts competed in the finals in eight
times in the first decade of the new century. The dominance of the 1st grade team in this period saw the
Club also claim the Club Championship in successive seasons 2000-01 and 2001-02. The Colts added
three more flags to their collection, while the 3rds with two flags and the 4ths with one continued the
success of the lower grade teams. In the One Day Sunday League competition, the Club finally found a
winning formula, winning titles in 2004-05 and 2008-09.
Success continued into the 2010’s. Under David Bolton the 1st grade did the “double”, winning both the
Pennant competition and the One Day League in 2010-11. The following season, the Club finished
runners-up after losing a close grand final. The 1st grade bowling attack was particularly strong with fast
bowlers Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff operating. Coulter-Nile has gone on to represent
both WA and Australia while Behrendorff debuted for WA in 2011.
The 3rd grade won a flag in 2012-13 and in the following season with Noel Knight returning to the Club
as Head Coach the 1st grade once again won the Sunday League Championship
2014/15 saw the Club expand when the local WA Female Cricket Council A and B grade teams elected to
join Subiaco Floreat. It was a homecoming of sorts, as back in the 1970’s the Subiaco men’s and
women’s cricket clubs shared the facilities at Rosalie Park. The ladies made an immediate impact,
winning the T20 final at the WACA ground.
