Byzantine Empire Real Estate Advertisement
You are the Emperor Justinian from the Byzantine Empire. You have just rebuilt the city after
the riots of 532 C.E. However, you should convince people to move back to your city.
You must create a real estate advertisement to encourage people to move back to Constantinople.
This advertisement should include the following elements:
A: A title page with a memorable slogan (catchy saying or phrase) and a map of Constantinople.
B: 4 individual panels or pages that must include a picture and at least one paragraph that
address the following subjects:
1. The great location of a Constantinople - address why Constantinople’s location was good for
both trade and protection from barbarian invasion. You should also explain what were some of
Constantinople’s main features. Why would people want to move there.
2. State how many people lived in Constantinople during its height of power, what the culture
and language of the city was, and one thing that people did for entertainment.
3. At least 3 great and wonderful things initiated by you, the Emperor Justinian.
4. The role of the church in Constantinople and something concerning the Hagia Sophia.
Be sure to explain the main religion of the Empire and the relationship between religion and government in the
Byzantine Empire. Furthermore, explain how the Church played a central role in the daily life of the
Byzantines.

should be in paragraph form with complete sentences. No bullet points. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR
