CSS WATCH Volume 8, Issue 7 July 2012 Hot Tips for Summer Officer Spotlight: Roswell, GA Officer Deborah Nelson Drink plenty of water. Carry water with you and drink continuously even if you don't feel thirsty. Injury and death can occur from dehydration, which can happen quickly and unnoticed. Symptoms of dehydration are often confused with other causes. Your body needs water to keep cool. Water is the safest liquid to drink during heat emergencies. Use sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or more—even on cloudy days. Seek medical care right away if you become nauseous, start vomiting or experience cramps. Eat small meals and eat more often. Avoid foods that are high in protein, which increase metabolic heat. Stay informed about the heat wave by listening to NOAA Weather Radio, or commercial radio and television for the latest heat warnings and advisories. Covenant Site Manager Henry Thrash received high praise from a client in Roswell, GA in regards to Security Officer Deborah Nelson: “I just wanted to let you know what a great job Deborah Nelson is doing at the console in Building 400. Aside from having a great personality and a friendly greeting each morning, Deborah provides support and service that goes above and beyond the requirements of her job. When employees come in with a lot of luggage, such as boxes of samples, Deborah will go to the door to help them in. “When I have last minute changes with vendors or have verbal instructions for her to follow, Deborah always remembers them and executes them flawlessly. Deborah never fails to follow up and keep me posted on our vendor activities. When we have problems that crop up, she knows how to summon the appropriate help. In all, she has been one of our most exemplary security guards in my 23 years of service.” Great job, Deborah, and thank you for your model performance! Happy Retirement, Tom!
