Program Ponderings
By: Liz Beise, Director of Programs
A huge thank you to all the families and residents who graciously donated
supplies for the Police gift bags. Below is an excerpt from an email I received from
the K9 officers.
THANK YOU very much for having us at Kingsley Shores for a K9 Demo. I am hoping the residents
enjoyed it as much as we did. And thank you very much for the “care packages” that were put together for us. I will distribute them to our officers. That was very thoughtful and much appreciated. As we left the demo we stopped and spoke to a few of the residents that were sitting outside. We had the opportunity to speak to a few that were veterans of our military and had served in
some of our wars. It seems kind of ironic when they thank us for our service as police officers when
we really owe them the gratitude for everything they went through.

What an exciting month August was!!
We had several great music acts, lunch
outings, and a fun state fair themed
happy hour. This next month we are
introducing several new opportunities
for residents to get involved. We will be
meeting in the lounge (2nd floor) for
coffee on Tuesday mornings, starting a
Domino’s club, Show and Tell , and
beanbag tournament.
Choir practice will start Thursday Sept
1st at 6pm in the AC. Andy Becker’s
daughter, Renee will be assisting us . We
have been asked by Orchard Lake
Elementary School to be a part of their
“Blast from the Past” school concert in
November. We will pick a couple songs
from the past for the kids to learn, and
then we will perform them together. Let’s show our support
for the community by having a
good turnout for the choir.
We will be hosting a Men’s
Breakfast Sept 22nd at 8am .
Men, come enjoy a hot
breakfast and get to know other guys!

Show and Tell
The longer I work here the more
interesting facts I find out about our
residents. We have former Neo-Natal
Nurses, Caterers, Elevator Repairmen,
Teachers and even a Judge! A great way
to get to know our neighbors better is to
share some of our interests. We are
looking for people who have an antique,
hobby or talent they would like to share.
Show and Tell will be a fun time for
everyone to see what you enjoy!!
September 16th at 2pm in the AC we will
have tables set up. You may sit with your
hobby/display or you may fill out the
questionnaire and have that sitting with
your show and tell piece.
Sign up outside Liz’s office on the
clipboard by September 9th!
Walgreens will be in the Activity
Center on September 28th at 1pm
to administer flu shots to residents
and staff. You must fill out paperwork with Nursing beforehand.
This is a great way to get prepared
for the upcoming cold and flu season!

Introducing...
I would like to take this opportunity to let you all know
how happy I am to make Kingsley Shores my new home as
the Campus Director. I have already met many wonderful
people here and look forward to meeting you all at some
point in time. Please bear with me while I try hard to remember all the names and faces.
I come to you with over 20 years of experience in senior
living. I have learned a lot along the way but there is always much more to learn. Every community is different
and unique as the people who live there so my goal for
Kingsley Shores is to get to know what you expect on your
journey as you live with us and work to meet those expectations and the promises that we have made to you
when you moved to Kingsley Shores.
I have ideas for enhancements to programs that I will be
working with staff to implement as we move forward and
I always welcome your input as this is your home. I have
an “open door” policy and welcome you and your family
to stop at any time to give me input, comments, suggestions or just visit. Lakeville is home and Kingsley Shores
will be my home away from home.
I would at this time like to ask that if you have any games,
magazines, craft items, etc… that you would like to see
repurposed and would like to see used at Kingsley Shores
that you bring them to my office so that I can put them to
good use. If you should have gently used hats (fancy or
otherwise) scarves, gloves, stuffed animals or the like that
I certainly can find a new purpose for them also and
would appreciate any of those items dropped off to me in
the next few weeks. Thank you in advance as I truly would
appreciate and use these items here at your home.
Thank you all for the warm welcome and I hope I live up
to and exceed your expectations as your new Campus
Director.

Food for Thought
Bev in our Beauty Salon is pleased to
announce that starting in September she
will be here on Thursdays as well as her
regular Wednesdays.
Hi all, this month we will be celebrating Labor
Day on the 5thwith a picnic buffet (considered
one of your ten meals.) The dining room will
be closed for the evening meal and box
We have gift certificates available at the
Front Desk for the Beauty Salon and for
Housekeeping. We also sell dining tickets
that might be a nice gift idea for
neighbors, family and friends.
lunches will be delivered to the daily diners
and those who sign up for one.
I’d like to really stress the importance
again of NOT parking in the fire lane,
which is the lane right outside the main
entrance. This lane must be kept clear of
parked vehicles AT ALL TIMES for
emergency vehicle access. Family
members can drop off or pick up
residents who are there waiting, but
please do not park there and then go into
the building to get your loved one or
escort them back to their apartment. We
thank you for your cooperation!
Also a reminder that on the weekends the
front door locks at 4:00pm. After this
please use your black FOB to get back
into the building or enter your personal 4
digit code on the key pad. If you do not
know your code I can give it to you.
Happy September Everyone!

Tuesday September 27th at

impersonator Adam Lindquist bring Teddy
Roosevelt, our 26th president, to life with

overcame obstacles, the importance of hard
work, the lessons of honesty and Roosevelt’s
influence that continues to inspire us and
leave us with an important legacy for the
betterment for all. Geared for Adults This is a
