More than 220 homeless and
needy Tyler men, women and children found Christian fellowship and
nourishment of spirit and body at the
first annual Hiway 80 Rescue Mission

Tyler on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the
West Erwin Church
of Christ Benevolence Center.

The Tyler Outreach Team is
gearing up to provide a very
merry Christmas for needy
Tyler children at our Family
Christmas Party on Sunday,
Dec. 23.
You can help provide gifts by
hosting a toy drive at your
church, school or business.
For more information, please
call Gary Crim at 903-2169183.
“I really enjoyed the food and
seeing everyone else enjoy it, too,”
said Mark Philen, who helped Rev.
Christian transport the food and
attended the meal as a guest.
The Tyler Outreach Team coordinated with other agencies, including the Green Acres Good Samaritan Outreach Center, St. Paul’s
Children Foundation, Gateway to
Hope and the West Erwin
Benevolence Center, to spread
word of the Thanksgiving meal to all
in need. Additionally, Rev. Antonio
Christian, Tyler Outreach Team
member, invited the homeless men
and women he has made contact
with since the Tyler Outreach
Team office opened in January
2012.
Volunteers helped set up and
decorate for the
event, as well as
serve guests the
meal.
Volunteer
Cindy Sulser enjoyed
seeing familiar faces
and visiting with
friends she has made
while volunteering as
an art outreach instructor for the Mission as well as making
some new ones.
“I enjoyed volunteering with people from
different churches
and seeing all of us
work together for the same
cause,” she said.
Hiway 80 Rescue Mission will
host a Christmas Eve meal for the
needy at 3 pm on Monday, December 24, at the West Erwin Benevolence Center.

What a blessing it was for the Tyler Outreach Team to be able to share
the love and spirit of Christ with so many homeless and hungry individuals at our first annual Thanksgiving meal in Tyler. I want to thank
West Erwin Church of Christ Benevolence Center for sharing their
facility with us and the volunteers who helped make this event such a
success. We are looking forward to our upcoming Family Christmas
Party in Tyler, where we will feed needy families and give toys to children as well as our Christmas Eve meal. It is because of your support
that our Mission has been able to touch the lives of so many hurting
individuals in Tyler and that we will be able to expand our services in
the future.
On behalf of Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, may you and your family have
a blessed Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
