Dear Friends of the Johns Creek Symphony, As we move toward the conclusion of our third concert season, and begin the process of planning for 2010‐2011, I want to share with you some of the many milestones we have achieved ‐ made possible by your continued support. Because of your generosity and belief in our mission, “to bring to the citizens of Johns Creek and surrounding communities the world’s greatest symphonic music performed at the highest possible artistic level,” in just one year we have: • Increased our patron base by 140% • Increased our individual donations by 48% • Increased our concert attendance by 40% and, • Increased our footprint in the community immeasurably. Musically, we have also realized some outstanding achievements since last season, made possible by your attendance and embrace of our artistic vision as championed by Maestro J. Wayne Baughman, Music Director and JCSO Founder: •

Our first collaboration with a major area chorus in a symphonic setting. Our first guest artist of national prominence. Our first invitation to play as the featured guest symphony for a community‐wide event. All of this was made possible because of your involvement, and for that we thank you. But there is still much work to be done, much more to accomplish as we go forward into 2011 and beyond. As a local symphonic orchestra, we rely on grants and other funding in order to cover our costs. It’s no secret that for most artistic organizations, ticket sales and the like only cover between 40‐50% of the operational costs. The rest must come from arts organizations and you. In these very difficult economic times, funding has been severely slashed, and recent announcements have sent a chill throughout the artistic community. We need your help! One agency the JCSO relies on in Georgia is the Georgia Council for the Arts. Given the proposed 2011 state budget, the GCA stands to lose 79% of its funding, that’s 79%! It is a frightening thought that of the 125+ organizations which applied for grants and were successful in 2009 and 2010 (of which we were one), the total may wither down to a select few. So where does this leave us? With a wonderful opportunity for you, our loyal patrons, to help us sustain the great strides we have made so we may flourish into the future. We continue fundraising into 2010 with our Annual Campaign “Love Your Orchestra!” 215 Royal Colony Court, Johns Creek, GA, 30022 ~ 678‐748‐5802
