Other Information
Please ensure that your child reads everyday. Also, please check your
child’s book bag daily for letters and information from school.
Swimming is Wednesdays for 3P and Thursday for 3T and 3F and
Friday for 3D.
Please bring in P.E. kit on Mondays and take home on Fridays.
English, Maths and Topic homework will be given out every Thursday
and collected in on Wednesday.

Classes 3D, 3P and 3T
This leaflet tells you what your child will be learning this
term. We really value the help that you can give your child
with their learning. These are some of the things you can
do:
Take them to the library
Find information from the internet
Help your child with their homework
Help your child to learn spellings and times tables
Help your child to learn the ‘key vocabulary’
Read with your child and write in their reading diary
Help them to make sure they have everything they need in
school on the right day
Don’t forget to check Frog every week for updates on the
children’s learning and ways to help at home. If you have any

Literacy
Folk tales – Children will be reading Fly Eagle Fly,
a traditional African story. They will be learning
to describe characters and setting in depth and
writing from the point of view of the characters.
Non-Fiction – Children will be taking in class discussions for and
against an issue relating to our environment. They will also be
writing information booklets about Hinduism.
Poems on a theme – Children will be writing and performing a range
of poems on our topic.
We will continue focusing throughout the term on constructing
complex sentences using the correct grammar and punctuation.
Children will be reading in school daily and should also be reading at
home with an adult every day. Children will be practising their
joined handwriting.
Mathematics
 Describe and explain methods, choices and solutions to
puzzles and problems, orally and in writing, using pictures and
diagrams.
 Fractions, equivalent fractions, non-unit fractions and adding
and subtracting fractions.
 Analogue clocks, Roman numerals and converting between the
two.
 Solving time and other word problems.
 Deriving division facts from multiplication facts.
 Continuing to learn times tables by heart and related division
facts.
 Using different strategies to add, subtract, divide and
