Overnight at Hampton Inn or comparable, near the Alamo. Day Two (July 19): The day begins with a walking tour of San Antonio, including a visit to the San Fernando Cathedral, the military plaza, locations from the siege of Bexar, and, of course, the Alamo including a viewing of the newly donated items by rock legend, Phil Collins. Overnight at Hampton Inn or similar near the Alamo. Day Three (July 20): We will visit the San Antonio missions as well as museums and sites associated with the Texas Revolution and Texas Republic. Overnight at Hampton Inn or Similar. Day Four (July 21): We head to Goliad to walk the battlefield at Coleto Creek, explore the Presidio La Bahia, and the mission Espiritu Santu, before pressing on to overnight in Victoria, Texas. Day Five (July 22): Travel to Gonzales, Texas, where we will visit the scenes of the opening shots of the Texas Revolution, as well as the gathering place for Sam Houston’s Army and its retreat to San Jacinto. Beer lunch in Shiner, Texas will help breakup the journey as we trace the steps of the Texas army as it retreated across the Colorado and Brazos. A quick visit to San Felipe will round out the day before we call it a night. Overnight in Kemah. Day Six (July 23): We will spend the day exploring Houston, the battlefield of San Jacinto, as well as other sites of military merit. Overnight in Kemah. Day Seven (July 24): We will take a jaunt up to the Star of the Republic Museum and Washingtonon-the-Brazos to see the cradle of the Republic of Texas before heading to Austin. Overnight in Austin. Day Eight (July 25): The travelers visit the Bob Bullock Museum, The State Capitol, Texas State Cemetery, and the Camp Mabry Museum. Overnight in Austin. Day Nine (July 26) We will head into the hill country, visiting LBJs “Western White House” then on to Fredericksburg. Shopping and visits to the various historical attractions in town on your own will be a pleasant way to spend the afternoon, then off to Kerrville for a catered gathering at the Schreiner Museum. That night, we’ll head on in to San Antonio and grab a hotel near the airport for those catching a plane. Day Ten (July 27) Travelers will head over to the San Antonio airport to catch their flights out.
