JULY 18-28
TOUR OF
TEXAS
With the best guides in Texas
Texas is a big place! It would take weeks to take it all in. We’ve
decided to give you the heart of the matter—visiting all of the places
made sacred during the Texas War for Independence. We’ll begin
and end in San Antonio, and see Houston and Austin, too.

Travelers arrive in San Antonio, Texas, and gather for a Tex-Mex meal at one of the local favorites
and learn some of the particulars of the trip. Overnight at Hampton Inn or comparable, near the
Alamo.
Day Two (July 19): The day begins with a walking tour of San Antonio, including a visit to the San
Fernando Cathedral, the military plaza, locations from the siege of Bexar, and, of course, the Alamo
including a viewing of the newly donated items by rock legend, Phil Collins. Overnight at Hampton
Inn or similar near the Alamo.
Day Three (July 20): We will visit the San Antonio missions as well as museums and sites
associated with the Texas Revolution and Texas Republic. Overnight at Hampton Inn or Similar.

La Bahia, and the mission Espiritu Santu, before pressing on to overnight in Victoria, Texas.
Day Five (July 22): Travel to Gonzales, Texas, where we will visit the scenes of the opening shots of
the Texas Revolution, as well as the gathering place for Sam Houston’s Army and its retreat to San
Jacinto. Beer lunch in Shiner, Texas will help breakup the journey as we trace the steps of the Texas
army as it retreated across the Colorado and Brazos. A quick visit to San Felipe will round out the
day before we call it a night. Overnight in Kemah.
Day Six (July 23): We will spend the day exploring Houston, the battlefield of San Jacinto, as well as
other sites of military merit. Overnight in Kemah.
