Contract awarded for KY 44 intersection project in Bullitt County
Turning lanes to be installed at intersection with Bells Mill Road
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) recently awarded a contract for an intersection improvement project on KY 44 in Bullitt County at the intersection with KY 1526
(Bells Mill Road). This project includes construction of turning lanes on all three legs of
this T-intersection and installation of a traffic signal.
“This project will improve safety on KY 44 by providing left turn storage capacity on KY
44 which will in turn reduce the potential for rear-end collisions,” stated Matt Bullock,
Chief District Engineer for the Department of Highways District 5 Office in Louisville. “Addition of a traffic signal will reduce the likelihood of angle crashes at this intersection.”
During construction, KY 44 and Bells Mill Road will be realigned at right angles (see diagram below).
Utility relocation is currently underway in the project area and will continue through the
winter months. Construction of the turning lanes is scheduled to begin in March 2016.
Two-way traffic will be maintained during the majority of the construction. Some lane clo-
sures will be necessary and traffic will be directed through flagging operations. Lane closures will be restricted to evenings from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Flynn Brothers Contracting was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of
$1.13million. Construction is scheduled for completion by July 31, 2016.
The date and duration of this work
may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov

Kentucky. You can also get traffic

Bullitt Lick Middle School Wins Milk Wars (again)
For the second year in a row, Bullitt Lick Middle School is the Milk Wars Champion –
Congratulations BLMS – you did an awesome job once again!
Everyone deserves to celebrate this year because EVERYONE exceeded last year’s
number and the competition was soooo close. BLMS better watch out next year – I really don’t think the other schools are going to let you win for a third year (right, ladies?).

crafts projects, science investigations, role playing challenges and opportunities for free
play. Catching the Wind focuses on the crisp autumn breeze moving through the forest.
