Summary of Unit
Floral designing has been a part of people’s lives throughout history. Floral pieces are a
reflection of society and its trends. A good floral designer is grounded in the characteristics of
past floral designs and recognizes current trends and fashions. Modern floral designs are a
reflection of all the best qualities from history.

You will develop a new floral design style that speaks “21st century.” Be
sure to incorporate some foundation principles for past historical
periods. The product can be presented visually (pictures, actual design),
written (verbal descriptions) or a combination of the two. In addition,
you’ll need to write a brief summary of why your design reflects the 21st
century.
Your work will be judged using the attached rubric. Be sure to include
