Recitation Due: October 13th Something Told the Wild Geese By Rachel Field Something told the wild geese It was time to go. Though the fields lay golden Something whispered,—“Snow.” Leaves were green and stirring, Berries luster-glossed, But beneath warm feathers Something cautioned,—“Frost.” All the sagging orchards Steamed with amber spice, But each wild beast stiffened At remembered ice. Something told the wild geese It was time to fly,— Summer sun was on their wings, Winter in their cry. Notes from the teacher: We are beginning to start chapter books! We move quickly through chapter books , and for many students it is important to reread chapters at home. I do have a few extra copies of books available or the public library and school library are also great resources. Please remember that reading with your child, or listening to the book on tape are excellent ways to enhance comprehension.
