the TapeSaver User's Manual for the correct syntax, correct the syntax
and re-submit the job.
TAPE0065 module FORECAST TRUNCATED: LOW DSNB COUNT
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
Reason:
The number of free DSNB entries in your tape catalog is either below
the minimum threshold you specified or would fall below that threshold
if you stacked all of the datasets which would be scheduled by this
forecast (stacking analysis). A partial forecast may have been created to
stack any datasets which can be stacked without falling below your
DSNB threshold. This fail-safe is built into TapeSaver to keep you from
stacking datasets to the point where an emergency TMC expansion is
required.
Action:
Check your free DSNB count and schedule a TMC expansion at your
earliest convenience. When enough free DSNBs become available,
TapeSaver will again forecast new stacking. You can also submit any
stacking scheduled in this partial forecast, if desired. TapeSaver will
stop stacking when the free DSNB threshold is reached.
TapeSaver Messages and Codes
13
TAPE0066 module CANNOT FIND ACCEPTABLE VOL FOR: dsname
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
dsname
name of the dataset that could not be stacked
Reason:
TapeSaver exhausted all of its options trying to find a tape volume onto
which it could stack the dataset shown after the colon. The dataset will
not be stacked. You can sometimes improve the chances of finding an
acceptable volume by increasing the Output Tape Pool Multiplication
Factor on the Stacking Effectiveness Analysis panel. This factor is
multiplied by the Maximum Datasets to Stack per Rule Packet
specification to determine the number of output tapes which will be
searched when looking for an acceptable volume.
Action:
None. Informational.
TAPE0067 module TRIAL LIMIT REACHED
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message; either
TSMAIN or TSSTACK
Reason:
Your TapeSaver trial tape reached one of its trial limits. These limits
restrict the use of TapeSaver during the trial period. The module that
generates the message indicates the type of limitation.
•
•
Action:
TSMAIN indicates the trial tape reached its expiration date.
TSSTACK indicates that TapeSaver reached a functional limit. It
moved 3 volumes or stacked 10 datasets. You cannot continue to
move volumes or stack datasets, but you can continue using the
reporting and analysis functions.
Contact your UNICOM Systems Account Representative to get a
licensed copy of TapeSaver.
TAPE0068 module FAILED TO OBTAIN NEW SCRTCH VOLSER
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
Reason:
An unrecoverable internal error or error introduced in a user exit was
experienced by TapeSaver.
Action:
Contact UNICOM Systems Customer Service.
TAPE0069 module FAILED TO READ REQUESTED DSNB
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
14
Reason:
An unsuccessful attempt was made to read a DSNB entry in the tape
catalog. DSNB entries are used to hold information about tape datasets
which are not the first file on a tape. The number of the DSNB entry that
TapeSaver attempted to read was specified in the tape catalog.
Action:
Run the tape management utilities which detect pointer errors in your
tape catalog and repair any errors before using TapeSaver again.

operation. The TapeSaver job will shut down as soon as the current
stacking operation is complete.
Action:

TAPE0072 module TMSPOINT TO START_VOL FAILED
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
Reason:
An attempt to position in the tape management catalog to the VOLSER
specified as the starting volume for this TapeSaver execution failed.
Action:
Check your starting volume specification to be sure that it is a valid
VOLSER which is within the range of volumes in your tape catalog.
TAPE0073 module INTERNAL ERROR: CANNOT POSITION TAPE
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
Reason:
This message indicates one of the following:
•
•
Action:
The executing TapeSaver load module (TAPESAVE) resides in a
library which is not APF authorized. TapeSaver can be run from a
library which is not authorized but significantly more tape handling
will have to be performed by the tape operators. This is because
TapeSaver will not be able to employ some of its proprietary tape
positioning technology.
An undefined unit name was specified on the output group. The unit
name must be defined to the operating system.
For reason 1: None. Informational.
For reason 2: On the group definition, specify an esoteric name that is
defined to your operating system; then re-run the job.
TAPE0074 module PROGRAM NOT APF AUTHORIZED
Where:
module
name of the module that generated the message
Reason:
This message displays when the executing TapeSaver load module
(TAPESAVE) resides in a library which is not APF authorized. TapeSaver
can be run from a library which is not authorized but significantly more
tape handling will have to be performed by the tape operators. This is
because TapeSaver will not be able to employ some of its proprietary
