CAVS QUICK FACTS

The defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers will try to extend the 2017 Finals with a win tonight in Game 5 against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena. The
Cavs defeated the Warriors by a score of 137-116 in Game 4 on Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena, where they led wire-to-wire and shot 46-87 (.529) from the field to
go with 27 assists.
Game 2 @ Cleveland; May 3
CAVS 125, Raptors 103

Game 3 @ Toronto; May 5
CAVS 115, Raptors 94
The Cavs’ 137 points in Game 4 set a franchise playoff record and was the highest single-game total in a Finals game since the L.A. Lakers beat Boston, 141-122, on June
4, 1987. The All-time Finals single-game scoring mark is 148 by Boston in 148-114 win over Lakers on May 27, 1985.

Also in Game 4, the Cavs rang up the highest-scoring half in NBA Finals history and franchise history (regular and post) when they outscored Golden State 86-68 in the
first half. The previous highest-scoring half in Finals history was 81 by Philadelphia against the Lakers in the second half on June 6, 1982 (Game Five). Cleveland’s 86 points
were the most ever for any first half of a NBA postseason game and fell one point shy of matching the highest-scoring half in overall NBA Playoff history: 87 by Milwaukee
vs. Denver in the second half on April 23, 1978.

Cleveland got off to a fast start in Game 4, outscoring Golden State, 49-33 in the first quarter, which is the highest-scoring quarter by one team in NBA Finals history
(prior was 47 by Lakers vs. Boston in the third quarter on June 3, 1984; Game Three at L.A.) and in Cavaliers history (regular and post). The Cavs’ 49 points marked the
highest-scoring first quarter in NBA postseason play and were two shy of matching the largest overall quarter in NBA Playoff history (51 by the Lakers vs. Detroit in the
fourth quarter on March 31, 1962; Game Five, West Finals).

The Cavs have now made at least 20 three-pointers twice in this year’s postseason after nailing an NBA Finals record 24 three-pointers (including Finals record 13 in the
first half) in Game 4 against Golden State. The Cavs also connected on 21 three-pointers in Game 3 of the First Round against the Pacers on April 20. In NBA Playoff
history, there’s only been 11 times a team has made at least 20 threes, and the Cavs have done it five of those times.

MILESTONE ALERT: With an appearance in Game 5, LeBron James (216 GP) will pass Shaquille O’Neal for sole possession of 7th place in career playoff games played. Kevin
Love (647 PTS, 384 REB) is 47 points away from passing Larry Nance (693) for 6th-most in Cavs playoff history and 22 boards shy of overtaking Anderson Varejao (405 REB)
for 5th place in rebounds. Iman Shumpert (45 STL) is 3 steals away from passing Craig Ehlo (47 STLS) for 7 th place in franchise playoff history.

In the win in Game 4, Kyrie Irving (40 PTS), LeBron James (31 PTS) and Kevin Love (23 PTS) combined for 94 points, tying the franchise playoff record for most points by
three players (1992). It was also the first Finals game in 48 years in which a player scored 40-plus points, a teammate scored 30-plus, and another teammate went for
20-plus. The last trio to achieve such a performance: Jerry West (41), Elgin Baylor (32) and Johnny Egan (26) for the Lakers against the Celtics on April 25, 1969. (Elias)

LeBron James is averaging a triple-double in this year’s Finals with 31.8 points (.540 FG%), 11.8 rebounds and 10.5 assists, to go with 1.3 steals and 1.0 block in 41.5
minutes. In Friday’s Game 4, James became the all-time playoff leader in free throws made (passed Michael Jordan: 1,643FTM) and moved into 3rd place in NBA Finals
scoring (passed Jordan: 1,176 PTS). With 1,206 points scored in the Finals, only Jerry West (1,679) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,317) has more Finals points than him.
James finished the night with his 19th career playoff triple-double (3rd of 2017 postseason) with 31 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high 11 assists in 41 minutes, which
was also his 9th Finals triple-double, moving him past Magic Johnson (8) for the most in NBA Finals history.


CAVALIERS PLAYOFF NOTES
2017 PLAYOFFS:
The Cavaliers are back in the NBA Finals for the third straight year and fourth time in franchise history (2007, 2015, 2016, 2017). In 21 playoff appearances, Cleveland (134 in 2017 Playoffs) is 113-93 all-time in the postseason, including 69-33 (.676) at home. Since 2006, the Cavs are 48-15 during the playoffs at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavaliers won 12 of their
first 13 games in the first three rounds, becoming the first Eastern Conference team to reach the NBA Finals with one or fewer losses since the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.
POSTSEASON WIN STREAK:
From Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals to Game 2 of the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals, the Cavaliers won a franchise-record 13 consecutive postseason
games, tying a then NBA record for longest playoff winning streak (L.A. Lakers from 1988-1989. Golden State won 15 straight games this year). Cleveland won 9 straight road playoff games
from June 13, 2016 to May 25, 2017 (2nd-longest road win streak in NBA Playoff history, behind only the L.A. Lakers-12 straight from 4/29/01-5/18/02). (Elias Sports Bureau)
BEAST OF THE EAST: The Cavs finished 12-1 against the East in this year’s playoffs. Going back to the 2015 postseason, the Cavs hold a 36-5 playoff record against Eastern Conference
opponents, which includes a 18-2 mark at The Q and 18-3 mark on the road.
STRONG AT THE Q: Including this postseason at home (6-2), the Cavs have won 15 of the last 18 playoff games at Quicken Loans Arena.
FIRST ROUND SWEEP: Cleveland opened the 2017 Playoffs with a 4-0 sweep over Indiana to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the 11th time in franchise history. The Cavs

ANOTHER SWEEP: In the Semifinals, the Cavaliers swept the Toronto Raptors 4-0 to advance to their third straight Eastern Conference Finals (seventh overall appearance). According to the
Elias Sports Bureau, Cleveland became the first team in NBA history to start the postseason 8-0 in consecutive years (started 10-0 in last year’s playoffs). The previous mark was 7-0 in back-toback postseasons by the Minneapolis Lakers in 1949 (7–0) and 1950 (7–0). The Cavs also have six sweeps since the 2015 Playoffs. The Wine & Gold put up a then-franchise playoff record 116.3

MAKING THEIR POINT(S): Cavs’ 137 points were a franchise playoff record, as well as the
highest single-game total in a Finals game since the Lakers beat Boston, 141-122, in Game Two
in 1987 (June 4, 1987). The All-time Finals single-game scoring mark is 148 by Boston in 148-114
win over Lakers on May 27, 1985.
o
THAT FIRST HALF (86 POINTS): The Cavs rang up the highest-scoring half in NBA Finals history and franchise history
(regular and post) when they outscored Golden State 86-68 in the first half. The previous highest-scoring half in Finals
history was 81 by Philadelphia against the Lakers in the second half on June 6, 1982 (Game Five). Cleveland’s 86 points
were the most in the first half of any NBA playoff game and fell one point shy of matching the highest-scoring half in
overall NBA Playoff history: 87 by Milwaukee vs. Denver in the second half on April 23, 1978.
o
3FGM

quarter in NBA Playoff history (51 by the Lakers vs. Detroit in the fourth quarter on March 31, 1962; Game Five, West
Finals). It also marked the highest-scoring first quarter in NBA Playoff history.

LARGEST HALFTIME LEAD IN NBA PLAYOFF HISTORY AND CAVS BIGGEST POSTSEASON MARGIN OF VICTORY EVER
In the 130-86 win in Game 2 over Boston in the ECF on May 19, the Cavs outscored the Celtics 72-31 in the first half. The 41-point margin was the largest halftime lead in NBA Playoff history.

LEBRON JAMES WINS PBWA’S 2016-17 J. WALTER KENNEDY CITIZENSHIP AWARD: NEW YORK, May 21, 2017 – Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron
James has won the 2016-17 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award as selected by the Professional Basketball Writers Association (PBWA). The honor, named after the
NBA’s second commissioner, is presented annually by the PBWA to a player, coach or athletic trainer who shows outstanding service and dedication to the community.
James was one of five finalists for the award, along with New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, Chicago Bulls forward Jimmy Butler, Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ
McCollum and Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph. The finalists were chosen by a committee of PBWA members from a list of 26 nominees submitted by NBA
teams. The winner was determined by a vote of the entire PBWA, which is composed of approximately 200 writers and editors who cover the NBA on a regular basis for
newspapers, online outlets and magazines.
The 32-year-old James is being honored for improving the educational opportunities of disadvantaged youth in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, and creating long-term
change in his community. More than 1,100 at-risk students have benefited from programs through the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF), which motivates children
to stay in school and attend college.
“LeBron James’ efforts to help young people are exemplary,” said PBWA President Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel. “He is making a difference, and so are the other
25 people who were nominated for this award.”
James takes an active role in mentoring LJFF students, writing them letters, calling their homes and rewarding them with tickets to Cavaliers games. He also buys
groceries for the students and their families, supplies school uniforms and arranges outings so that the children can be exposed to new experiences. His efforts include an
annual “Family Reunion,” the most recent of which featured James hosting more than 5,000 students and family members at a local amusement park.
This season, the LJFF announced a partnership with Akron Public Schools to create a new public school called the I PROMISE School tailored to meet the needs of the
students in his program and their families. James also established the I PROMISE Institute at the University of Akron, which will provide around-the-clock support to LJFF
students when they begin pursuing four-year degrees. The institute further strengthens the relationship between James and the university and follows a joint
announcement in 2015 that pledged full college scholarships for qualifying students enrolled in his mentorship program.
The LJFF stresses the importance of giving back to communities. In February, James brought 23 high school students from Akron that serve as mentors in his foundation
to New Orleans for NBA All-Star 2017, where they rebuilt a home damaged by Hurricane Katrina and assisted in tornado relief efforts.
James joins Austin Carr, Eric Snow and Luol Deng as the only Cavs players to receive the award since it was introduced in 1974.
