MARCHING BAND
The Monroe Cheerleaders and Dancers form an
impressive presence at Monroe athletic events while
providing members with a fun, and energetic team
activity. They too participate in community events in
both the Bronx and New Rochelle. Potential dancers
and cheerleaders need related experience, but do not
need to audition unless applying for a scholarship.
At the time of admissions make the counselor aware
of any interest in joining the squads.

The Monroe College Mustangs are looking for motivated
students to join and perform in its marching band. The
band performs at select athletic events like football and
basketball games, bringing excitement and energy to
fans. Members of the band are involved in the local
community which include playing and marching in city
events like the New Rochelle Thanksgiving Day parade,
exhibitions, and festivals. Monroe’s athletic teams are
highly competitive. Becoming a Mustangs is a great
way to enrich your academic experience, and promote
school spirit!
Brass (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone,
Tuba) and Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone)
musicians should prepare music that demonstrates
their abilities. Your audition will include a minimum
of one prepared song and major scales. Students
interested in Drumline should be prepared to
demonstrate all 40 drum rudiments. Auditions may be
pre-recorded or conducted live. To schedule an audition

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID
There are a limited number of scholarships available to
participants in the marching band. These scholarships
are awarded based on academic ability and marching
band auditions. In addition to Marching Band scholarships, band members may be eligible for academic
scholarships or institutional grants as well as other
federal or state grants. All applicants are encouraged to
complete a FAFSA application.
