Electronic Waste Disposal

Single family residents and multi-family units (4 units or less) may
dispose of bulky items at curbside. Large or bulky item pickups,
with a maximum of four (4) items or 10 bags of yard waste per
pickup, are free for Lawndale residents. Please call at least 24
hours in advance for pickup. Place items such as electronic waste
(e-waste), washers, sofas, water heaters, refrigerators (door must
be removed or secured), on the curb (or alley) on your regular
pickup day by 6:30 a.m.
LAWNDALE
Bulky Item Pickup
Seniors 65 years of age and older, whom are
considered head of the household, receiving cart
services are eligible for a discounted rate!
In order to see if you qualify, please contact

A special truck will pickup items before 5:00 p.m. Please note
that size and weight are limited to what two (2) workers can lift
safely.
Holiday Schedule
Collection will not occur on the following days:
Holiday Tree Collection
Holiday tree collection will begin on December 26th
and continue for two (2) weeks thereafter. During this
period, all holiday trees placed out for collection will
be picked up at the curb. After this period, trees will
be collected as ‘Bulky Items’ (see above).
Trees seven (7) feet or taller need to be cut in half.
Please remove all ornaments, flocking and stands
prior to curb side placement for collection.

Refuse and Recycling collections will be delayed
one day. For instance, if your regular collection
day is on Monday, your collection will take place
on Tuesday, Tuesday’s collection will take place
on Wednesday, and so on.

dispose of large or bulky items at the City’s Annual Cleanup
event.

The City of Los Angeles operates the Hyperion
Permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Collection Center. It is located at 7660 West Imperial
Hwy., Gate B, Playa Del Rey. The Center accepts
waste every Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m.—3:00 p.m.
What you CAN bring: E-Waste (computers,
printers, TV’s, VCR’s, cell phones, fax machines,
stereos and electronic games), U-Waste (household
batteries, fluorescent tubes and mercury containing
devises), motor oil, oil filters, brake fluid, paint,
turpentine, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides or
herbicides, car batteries, pool chemicals and
expired pharmaceuticals.
What you CANNOT bring: tires, explosives,
ammunition, trash, radioactive materials and
business waste.

Commercial and
Multi-Family Recycling
is Available (AB341)
State legislation made recycling mandatory for
certain businesses and apartment buildings
beginning July 1, 2012. All businesses that produce
4 cubic yards or more of trash per week and multifamily properties of five units or more (such as
apartment buildings) are required to recycle.
Make sure your business has arranged for recycling
services. If you are a property or business manager
and would like to sign up for recycling service,
contact Republic Services at (800) 299-4898.

Family
Cart
Service
Consolidated Disposal Service (CDS) provides
automated collection of refuse, recycling and yard
waste for all single family and multi-family residents
(in 4 or less units).
 Carts must be placed at the curb for collection
by 6:30 a.m. the morning of collection day. The
evening before your collection is the earliest
time you can put carts curbside.
 Place materials inside the containers. Materials
on the ground will not be collected.
 Remove your containers from the curb within
12 hours of being emptied.

 Residents may select a 35 or 60-gallon recycle
cart.
 If you regularly fill your recycle cart, you can
request an additional recycle cart free of charge.
The following items are recyclable:
 Newspaper
 Milk/juice cartons and drink boxes
 Flattened cardboard and cereal boxes
 Mixed
paper (office, stationary,
computer paper, junk mail, envelopes,
magazines, phonebooks)
 Clean paper bags
 Glass beverage bottles and food
jars
 Wire coat hangers
 Aluminum, tin and steel cans
 All colors and shapes of plastic
containers and bottles marked with
#1-#7.
Please DO NOT place these items into your
Recycle Carts:
 Residents may select a 35, 60, or 90-gallon
refuse cart. The size of the cart will
determine the fee charged.
 Waxed & Carbon Paper
 Periodically refuse generated may be more
than what will fit into the refuse cart.
Residential customers are entitled to 2 annual pick-ups per calendar year of material that
does not fit in the refuse cart. The extra refuse pick-up shall consist of up to the equivalent of 3 large bags, boxes or barrels. Please

 Bathroom & Kitchen Waste
All normal household waste can be placed in the
refuse cart (i.e. food waste, soiled paper and plastic
wrap.)
DO NOT place the following items in your cart:
 Hot ashes or coals
 Dirt, sod, or rocks
 Concrete, construction & demolition debris
 Heavy metal items (such as auto parts), or
 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
 Food & Liquid Waste
 Trash & Yard Waste
 Used Styrofoam, Paper Plates and Cups, Paper
Towels, Tissue and Toilet Paper
Used Oil
Recycling
Curbside collection of used motor oil and oil filters
are available to Lawndale residents. Place used
motor oil in either CDS provided containers or in
rinsed milk or juice jugs with lids securely
fastened. Place used oil filters in clear Zip-Loc or
plastic bags and place curbside on your regular
trash collection day. Please contact our customer
service department 24 hours in advance of
collection.

Yard Waste
 Residents may place their yard waste in the 60-
gallon cart provided and in bundles that is a
maximum of 4 feet long and 18” in diameter.
 Residents may request an additional yard waste
cart for an additional fee.
The following materials can be placed in the yard
waste cart:
 Flowers
 Grass clippings
 Leaves
 Plant and weed trimmings
 Small branches and prunings (not to exceed 4
feet in length and 4 inches in diameter)
Please DO NOT place these items into your Green
Waste Carts:
 Palm branches
 Animal waste
 Yucca trees
 Large tree stumps
 Ice plant clusters
 Glass
 Dirt, sod or rocks
 Metal
 Concrete
 Plastic bags, or
 Treated or painted wood
 Household garbage

these tags on your cart, we
are notifying you that we
were unable to service your
cart. Please take a look at
the tag to see what has been
checked off as the reason
and make sure you avoid
this when your carts are
scheduled for pick up the
following week.
