JESUS- FORESHADOWED IN JOSEPH
• A deeply loved son is sent by his father to hostile brothers who attack him
• Shepherds witness the story
• The son predicts what will happen and is hated for it
• He is rejected, stripped, beaten, and thrown into a pit
• He is betrayed and handed over to Gentiles by a man named Judah (Judas) in exchange for silver coins
• The formerly wealthy young man becomes a servant
• Everything the servant touches is blessed
• Tempted severely he does not sin
• Falsely accused and innocent he presents no defense
• He is arrested and numbered with criminals, two of them named
• He predicts deliverance
• Bread and wine are part of the story • He specifically asks to be remembered
• One the two criminals is pardoned
• He is 30 years old when the story turns
• The numbers three and seven come up frequently; even the phrases “three days” and “seven years”
• There are powerful Gentile rulers making big decision who are impressed with the prisoner standing before them
• He is honored among Gentiles while still despised by his brethren
• The people were instructed to do whatever he said to do
• He is given a Gentile bride
• He forgives what has been done to him and is fruitful
• He works a God-given plan to bless the world with bread
• He saves the world from death during a seven-year period
• The brothers fear Him and do not recognize him
• They sit at a dinner that he prepares for them before saying farewell
• He serves them at the dinner
• The discovery of a cup causes sorrow
• Later the man who everyone believes to be dead is actually alive and bringing salvation, redemption,
forgiveness, compassion, and rescue
• In the end he brings his family to live with him in a wonderful place given to them
