Youth Poetry Contest Entry Form
In honor of National Poetry Month in April and a visit from our One County, One Book
author, Jacqueline Woodson, the Schenectady County Public Library is announcing this poetry
writing contest!
Students in grades 2-12 must use five words in the body of their poem, in any order. The poem
does not have to be about any of the words, but all five must appear in the poem.
The words, taken from chapter headings in our community read, Brown Girl Dreaming are:
home
fresh
believe
listen
blanket
Entries must be accompanied by an entry form. Entries will be accepted at any SCPL branch
until March 26, 2016. Please use 8.5 x 11 inch sized paper for your poems. The winners
will be notified by April 5, 2016 and invited to a reception for family and friends on
Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 6:30pm at our Central Library.
