RAVENBEER proudly announces Dark Usher RavenBeer is proud to announce some big news – Dark Usher: Dark Kölsch is joining five of his
fellow E. A. Poe beers in the literary Poe series.
RAVEN SPECIAL LAGER, PENDULUM PILSNER, THE CASK (OF AMONTILLADO), TELL TALE
HEART IPA, ANNABEL LEE WHITE and now DARK USHER fill out THE E.A. Poe series of beers.
As throughout the Poe series, the artwork was created by Kevin Kallaugher (KAL), the editorial
cartoonist for The Economist magazine out of London and of the Baltimore Sun.
Dark Usher, Poe’s classic short story written before the onset of modern psychological science,
describes Roderick Usher suffering from sensory hyperesthesia or sensory overload (hyper sensitivity to textures, light, sounds, smells and tastes), hypochondria and acute anxiety. After
entombing alive Roderick’s twin sister a storm rocks the Usher mansion causing it to split in two and
become swallowed up into the ground below just as the narrator flees and watches the Fall of the
House of Usher.
Dark Usher is a German-style Kölsch that is dark but still of the classic Kölsch taste with soft and
subtle fruit flavors and aromas. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel, this 4.8% abv German ale
having only noticeable noble hop nose and bitterness is worth falling for.
Dark Usher is available in 12 oz. bottles, 13.2 gal (50L), 5.2 gal (20L) kegs and firkins (10.8 gal).
It’s “Insanely Good”

“ During the whole of a dull, dark and soundless day in the autumn…I had
been passing alone, on horseback, through the singularly dreary tract of
country; and at length found myself, as the shades of the evening drew on,
within view of the melancholy House of Usher.”
