INSPIRATIONS
Dear Kathy,
Though the days are still warm, there are signs of autumn's approach. The
air smells a bit different, crisper, earthier somehow, and evenings are
cooler, allowing us to rest more deeply. The sun shines more gently as it
signals the upcoming harvest season. Here and there, maple trees are
beginning to flush as they prepare their leaves for the burnished shades of
red that shout "Fall has arrived!" At Heavenly Scent, we've already
embraced the changing season. Read on to learn how...
New and Exciting in the Shoppe
Our new Autumn Harvested candles, room sprays and diffusers will treat
your nose to the delightful scents of pumpkin, cinnamon, and clove. What an
excellent way to welcome fall!
Battery‐operated, lighted canvases are here and we have so many designs
and motifs! Enhance your autumn look with a harvest table picture that
features flickering candles set among an elegant array of pumpkins and other
gourds. Maybe whimsical, dancing flames Jack O' Lanterns draped in spider
webs are more your style, or witches pirouetting around their moon‐lit
cauldron, or a row of night time owls with glowing eyes, or goofy mason jar
pumpkins, or... Well, you get the idea. There's a lighted canvas for every
taste and budget.
Whimsy abounds when it comes to our Halloween décor products. Do you
need an adorable steam‐punk
pumpkin head character for your
mantle? Maybe you'll find something
in Professor Skellington's "Study of
Bones" class to delight you ‐ from the
potions book that is actually a
magnet‐closure box for your spooky
treasures to a set of cloth witch legs
to tuck under a piece of furniture,
Wizard of Oz style, you are sure to find some irresistible gem for your home
Perhaps elegant fall décor is what you seek. We have gorgeous fall leaf picks, with sparkles
or without. There is a plethora of festive
pumpkins, gourds, and ribbon in all sizes and
shapes for your fall mantle, tabletops and
urns. Choose from several types of battery
operated micro string lights to wind
throughout your autumn and Halloween
decorations.
Greenhouse Gossip
Steve's "Everything's Gotta Go" sale is in full swing. Planted containers,
ferns, ivies, and lady slipper plants are currently half‐off. Plants in 5.5 inch
pots and 6 inch fiber pots are $3.00. Everything in a 4.5 inch pot or smaller
is $1.00. Don't miss out!
The Greenhouse Goddesses are busy pricing other items to go with special
markdowns on select garden items. It's definitely fall clean‐up time out
there!
Kitchen Pantry
We have new tea flavors from The Republic of Tea! Tempt your
taste buds with flavors such as
Pumpkin Spice, Hot Apple Cider,

Company's coming. The harvest season always brings visitors and
you can be ready for them when you keep Harvest Pumpkin or
Carmel Apple dip mixes on hand. These convenient mixes from
Country Home Creations are easy to prepare with cream cheese
and go well with ginger snap cookies, apple slices, celery sticks or
even Ritz crackers.
Kid's Corner
Apparently, the fairies must like Halloween too because our fairy area is
chock full of tiny pumpkins, glow‐in‐the‐dark bats, harvest signs, scarecrows,
witch fairies, and so much more! We also have charming squirrels, acorn picks with tiny leaves and buttons
and, of course, adorable witch hat and pumpkin houses.
Did You Know... the Barn at Heavenly Scent is Truly Haunted?
The ghostly inhabitants only make their presence known when all of the
customers are gone. Anybody working in the building alone is treated to the
noise of footsteps going across the floor or the overwhelming feeling that
something is behind them.
Basement staff meetings are frequently interrupted with the creaking sounds
of people walking around on the floor above, even though the doors to the
shop are locked and nobody could possibly be up there. (There is NEVER
anybody there when we go and check!)
Kathy's design table used to be in the basement. One day, she was getting
ready to create a dried arrangement. Her design table was cleared off and
she could see that she didn't have any stem tape. She ran upstairs to get
some more and when she returned to her design table, there was a roll of
stem tape, resting near the edge of the table! The hair on her arms stood
on end. She felt someone behind her, turned and there was nobody there!
Employees have often experienced hearing someone call their name when
nobody is around.
From time to time, well anchored display items will fall on the floor when
there is nobody near‐by.
One evening, when the ribbons were still on a ribbon rack, Kathy came into
the shop to find that a bunch of the ribbons had been unraveled and were in
a pile on the floor. Clearly, the ghosts like to tease Kathy the most!
No harm has ever come to any of us at the hands of our ghostly friends.
