HOOKS KO’d: Ryan O’Hearn belted a pair of three-run home runs in his first two trips to the plate Wednesday as the Naturals
rolled to an 11-6 victory over Corpus Christi at Arvest Ballpark. The Naturals sent 16 men to the plate in the first two innings as Kent
Emanuel failed to escape the second. O’Hearn’s six RBIs fell one shy of matching the club record, last achieved by Lane Adams August 13, 2013, vs. Corpus Christi. Northwest Arkansas’ No. 3 thru 6 hitters, Corey Toups, O’Hearn and Frank Schwindel, combined to
go 13-for-19 with eight runs scored. Of the club’s 19 hits, 16 were singles. Eric Peterson was charged with a run in 3 2/3 innings. Peterson fanned six and did not issue a walk. The Naturals mustered two tallies vs. Ryan Thompson over the final three frames.
Corpus Christi enjoyed traction against rehabbing Royals lefty Jason Vargas. In the first, Garrett Stubbs doubled down the left-field
line and scored on a JD Davis sac fly. The Hooks added solo home runs by Conrad Gregor and Ramon Laureano before Vargas’
third-inning exit. Ashton Goudeau earned the victory, scattering one run on four hits over 5 1/3 innings of relief. Goudeau struck out
seven and walked one. Corpus Christi’s lone tally against him occurred in the eighth. Davis seared a triple into the right-field alley and
came home courtesy of a chopper to first off the bat of James Ramsay. With Reid Redman on the mound, the Hooks added a pair of
runs in the ninth via sac flies by Stubbs and Nick Tanielu.

ROSTER UPDATE: The Astros have released OF Danry Vasquez and promoted RHP Rogelio Armenteros to Corpus
Christi from High-A Lancaster. A native of Cuba, Armenteros went 6-4 with a 4.18 ERA in 19 games (16 GS) for the JetHawks.
The 22-year-old right-hander struck out 107 and walked 37 in 90.1 innings, allowing 13 home runs and a .251 batting average
against. Armenteros last appeared Tuesday at High Desert, yielding a season-high 7 runs and 3 home runs in 4.0 frames. He
surrendered 2 earned runs or less in 10 of his first 13 California League assignments. Armenteros opened the year with Quad
Cities, going 0-2 with a 1.93 ERA in 4 appearances (3 starts), striking out 20 against 3 walks in 18.2 IP.
Signed by the Astros as a non-drafted free agent in September 2014, Armenteros divided last season between Tri-City and Quad
Cities. In 15 combined outings (12 starts), he was 3-2 with a 3.69 ERA. Armenteros, averaging 10 strikeouts per 9.0 IP stateside,
defected from Cuba following his 18th birthday in 2012 while in Barcelona. At the age of 17, he made 5 appearances (4 starts) for
Industriales of the Cuban National Series.
THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY: Northwest Arkansas notched a season-best 19 hits last night, the most allowed by the Hooks
this year. Corpus Christi had permitted 3 runs on 11 hits in its prior 2 contests. Wednesday also ended an incredible run by the
Hooks’ starting pitching staff. LH Evan Grills, RH David Paulino, RH Francis Martes and RH Trent Thornton teamed to author a
2.08 ERA over the past 4 games. The quartet struck out 18 against 18 hits and 2 walks in 26.0 innings.
LIVIN’ BY THE LONG BALL: The Hooks have belted 7 home runs over the past 3 nights. Prior to this surge, Corpus
Christi had not mustered a multi-homer game since a 3-clout effort August 1 vs. San Antonio. From April thru June, the Hooks
belted 90 home runs, which ranked 3rd in the minor leagues. Since July, Corpus Christi has cracked 38 homers, slotting 3rd in
the Texas League.
LET’S TAKE THAT HILL!: Tonight, Corpus Christi takes aim at its 2nd consecutive series victory. A win would also finish the regular-season series between these two clubs at 6-6. Midland is the only other squad to sport a winning record against
the Hooks (17-11). Corpus Christi has excelled vs. the Texas League North this year, going 27-18. The Hooks have won 16 of 21
games played in North ballparks.
