14th October 2015
Dear Parents
Some exciting news ~ planning permission for our new classroom has now been granted! The ground works for
this will start on Monday 19th October. It is hoped that the project will be completed by January 2016.
As with all building works we will need to be flexible during this time and there will be some inconvenience
caused. However, it is also a great learning opportunity for our pupils, I am sure there will be lots of ‘Bob the
Builders’ watching the building develop over the next few months.
From Monday 19th October the playground will be fenced off from the end of the old Year 2 classroom. This
means that the school cannot be accessed through the Year 1 and 2 Cloakroom door or the Link door. As a
result the arrangements for coming in to the building in the mornings will be as follows:
Morning Arrangements

Owl Class pupils (Years 1 and 2) will access their classroom through the classroom door in their outside
area (this is the area behind the pencil fencing next to the School Office)

Wren Class (Reception) pupils will access the school through the hall door at the back of the building

Pre School parents and pupils will access the dining room through the link door in the Early Years
outside area.

Drop off procedures for driving in and out in the morning will not be affected and can still continue as
usual.
Additional staff will be around to sign post people to the correct entrance, if you go through the pencil
fencing next to the school office and walk around the back of the building you can’t go wrong!
Please stick to the path on your way round, pupils should not be going on the grass.
If your child arrives after 9.15 a.m. please report to the office as usual. Please do not enter through the
pencil fencing.
Afternoon Arrangements
The playground space will be reduced and therefore at the end of the day there will be less parking spaces
for parents. Please do not arrive extra early to secure a space as the gate will be opened at the usual time

of 2.55pm and this will only cause a back log along Swan Lane and Chapel Road. Please use this time to walk
wherever possible, park and stride or use this as an opportunity to organise lift shares. If you do not need to
drive then please use the healthier and more eco-friendly option! Do not block any of our neighbours’
driveways; even if you think you will only be a matter of seconds, it is unfair and inconsiderate.
Please see below for the end of the day arrangements:

Wren Class (reception) pupils ~ please wait in the Early Years outside area

Owl Class (Year 1 and 2) pupils ~ please wait in Owl Class outside area

For those parents with children in both Wren and Owl class please collect your child from the Early
Years outside area before returning to collect the older child from Owl class

Take extra care when walking through the playground as parents drive off from this area ~ please
remember the playground becomes a car park at the end of the day it mustn’t be used as a play
area for pupils and their younger siblings

Please take extra care when driving off as parents as pupils will be crossing the playground at
different spots to usual

The pencil fencing gate will be opened at 3.10pm for you to come through to the waiting areas ~ please
do not walk round before this time.
Our new classroom is being built in Ireland at the moment and you will be able to see its progress on the
display board by the blue chairs. Pupils will also be kept updated of its development ~ they were the first to
see the photo’s this week! I will be asking the contractors to come in to our school to speak to the children
about site safety. The fencing for the area has also been chosen so that pupils can watch what is happening.
Thank you for being flexible and patient during this time. It won’t be too long before the works are
completed.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to come and see me.
Yours sincerely
Ms V Lanham
